Murray Bridge Tips July 17

Happy Retirement Mick Huxtable Two-Year-Old Benchmark 62 Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Pure Crown

A series of encouraging trials preceded Pure Crown's debut, with the gelding's best effort coming when third in a Murray Bridge heat just over a month ago.

The gelding went on to make his race debut in the city, finishing third at Morphettville earlier this month.

Racing on a Soft 7 surface, the youngster settled off the pace before staying on nicely in the straight.

Beaten just over five lengths in a race dominated from the front, the son of Nicconi is expected to have improved for that first race-day experience, while the extra distance and slightly quicker ground forecast are both positives.

Harry Grace retains the ride, and Pure Crown looks capable of breaking through for his first win.

Murray Bridge Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Amical

There was plenty to like about Amical's debut performance at Gawler in October, where he passed the post well clear of his rivals before a subsequent disqualification.

Having trialled well in recent months, the gelding resumed at Balaklava just over a month ago.

Racing on a Soft 7 surface, the pick led before finishing fourth.

Beaten just over two-and-a-half lengths over 1200m, the drop back in distance is expected to suit, while barrier six and the forecast quicker ground also look positives.

Connor Murtagh takes the ride for the first time, and after being freshened since Balaklava, Amical can reward connections for bypassing a Mount Gambier engagement.

Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Allegedly

A pair of encouraging trials preceded Allegedly's first-up effort, where the gelding encountered excuses before finishing midfield at Balaklava.

Significant improvement followed at this venue when stepping up to 1400m.

Beaten less than a length into fifth under Brooke King, the seven-year-old produced a much stronger performance on that occasion.

Similar underfoot conditions are forecast, although any track upgrade shouldn't be an issue, having already won on a sound surface, while the rise in distance is another positive, with four of his five career victories coming over this trip.

Barrier eight shouldn't pose a concern, and Emma Hubbard's gelding rates value to register his first win at Murray Bridge.

Happy Retirement John Bhuagiar Benchmark 56 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 11 Mine All Mine

A strong record at this venue makes Mine All Mine worth another chance, with two of his four career wins coming at Murray Bridge.

While winless in 10 starts this season, the gelding has produced some solid efforts in defeat, including two fifth-place finishes here earlier this preparation.

He arrives off a midfield effort in a Benchmark 62 at Morphettville Parks just under three weeks ago.

Beaten just over six-and-a-half lengths over 1000m, the form from that race has worked out strongly, with the winner and four horses behind him all winning at their next starts.

Todd Pannell's mount has shown tactical versatility and may be capable of overcoming the wide barrier, with the return to provincial company in his favour.
