Hawkesbury Value Bet - Race 3 No. 9 Kiss Of Gold
The consistent Kiss Of Gold has continued to race well in defeat, including a fifth-place finish at Illawarra Grange last time.
Racing over 1150m, the mare finished just under one-and-a-half lengths from the winner in what was her first start on Good ground this preparation.
Her previous three appearances had all produced top-three finishes on wet tracks, although the firmer conditions appeared no issue last time and similar going is expected here.
Matthew Smith’s mare stayed on well from midfield on that occasion, and the rise in distance should suit.
Claire Ramsbotham, who partnered the four-year-old when second at Gosford on her penultimate start, returns to the saddle and Kiss Of Gold looks value to break through at the sixth attempt.

Another wide alley is not ideal, but Ellen Hennessy retains the ride and Gimme A Yes may be capable of surprising on her return to turf.

Castlejohn had valid excuses when beaten in a Benchmark 72 at the same venue the following month, having raced keenly from the front.
A wide barrier is a negative here, so the son of Castelvecchio is likely to be ridden with more restraint.
Joe Pride’s representative appeared comfortable on Good ground in the first of two trials ahead of his return, and dropping back to provincial company, Castlejohn is selected to resume with a victory.
