Belmont hosts a thrilling seven-race metropolitan program on Wednesday, June 17, featuring progressive horses ready to make their mark. Key recommendations include Barecove Rock (Race 6) as a value chance due to his solid form and drop in grade, Reminiscence (Race 7) as the best bet after a strong win, and Countess Of Kenna (Race 8) as the roughie, returning well after her spell and suited by any ground conditions. Bettors should watch the back half of the card for emerging opportunities and value selections.

Belmont Value Bet - Race 6 No. 5 Barecove Rock

Although untried over this staying journey, breeding and recent performances suggest it is worth a try, while Barecove Rock also has a fitness platform with three May runs under the belt.

The latest was only an even effort when holding his ground in a Saturday 60+ event on May 30.

That followed two strong Class 3 performances over seven furlongs, with both races containing handy form references through Herault, Linchpin and Strapping Prophet.

The son of Awesome Rock also improved as his late three-year-old campaign progressed, building on back-to-back runner-up finishes before breaking through in a Class 1 on soft ground at Belmont.

This represents a nice drop back in grade to midweek company, while Troy Turner remains aboard and the gelding has been supported in the market at all three starts this preparation.

Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Belmont Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Reminiscence

Following a runner-up finish when well backed on debut via the Boxing Day card at Pinjarra, Reminiscence was spelled after a fifth-of-10 finish in a Saturday three-year-old plate at Ascot on January 10.

The son of Farnan caught the eye late in the second of his May trials before breaking through in style at Belmont on June 6.

That victory came over six furlongs, where he recorded a comfortable success after showing the benefit of that trial work.

For a colt who looks likely to appreciate seven furlongs and perhaps even a mile in time, the extra 100m should hold no concerns.

This is not a bad Class 1, but Reminiscence looks a youngster capable of working through the grades, while barrier six gives Clint Johnston-Porter plenty of options aboard the Williams-trained galloper.

Wittens Irrigation & Design Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Belmont Roughie - Race 8 No. 9 Countess Of Kenna

This lightly raced five-year-old completed only two runs in a short October preparation, and there were excuses for the latest of those efforts.

Countess Of Kenna pulled up lame after her Northam appearance and was subsequently sent for a spell.

She was not knocked about late in a recent Lark Hill trial, while blinkers are applied for her return.

The daughter of Rogano had won her previous two first-up attempts before that campaign, the latest a Class 1 victory over useful types Pingers and Ginger Morpheus.

The former has since won four races this season, including his last two in Saturday metropolitan company, while any give in the ground is a positive for Countess Of Kenna, although her overall record suggests conditions should not concern her either way.
