Heading into the Big Bash League clash, Perth Scorchers are favorites to continue their winning streak against the Melbourne Renegades. With consecutive victories, the Scorchers' batting line-up, featuring Mitch Marsh and Aaron Hardie, has shown remarkable depth, contributing to their strong performance. While the Renegades faced struggles, they recently pulled off a stunning victory in the Melbourne derby. However, they face a tough challenge against the dominant Scorchers, who aim for a direct finals berth. The match's outcome could virtually end the Renegades' finals hopes.

Perth will continue firming in as the favourite for the BBL15 title with their fourth consecutive victory by almost certainly ruining the Renegades chances of a finals berth.

The Scorchers are on absolute fire, winning their last three matches despite being sent in to bat first in all of them, which has just a 29.1% win rate in BBL15. After winning just 1 of their opening 3 matches, the Scorchers batting order has come alight, with their depth unbeatable as the likes of Mitch Marsh, Aaron Hardie and Ashton Turner coming to life after Cooper Connolly led of the series the hottest of the top-order. 

The Renegades season is hanging by a thread and was saved by a final over of magic from Will Sutherland when the ‘Gades took out the Melbourne derby on Sunday. Unfortunately for Melbourne those moments have been few and far between and they are going to do it tough in the west on Wednesday.

Perth will be too clinical with bat in hand and I am going to keep riding Mitch Marsh and Aaron Hardie to hit their overs on on their runs totals as the Scorchers walk away as victors.

Also going to have a cheeky crack at the bat flip market with Perth losing their last 5 flips. It has to be time for a change of fortune doesn’t it?

The Scorchers are heating up with three wins on the trot against the Thunder, Hurricanes and the Strikers. I am making a big call here and picking them to win it all and putting it down to one simple factor, batting.

The Scorchers top order is the most clinical in the BBL with Aaron Hardie (176 runs), Cooper Connolly (174 runs) Finn Allen (165 runs) Mitch Marsh (164 runs) and Ashton Turner (164 runs) all able to turn a match on its head no matter the situation. All five have had an innings of 77 runs or more and have individually won matches for their team. 

The weakness is with the ball with only Joel Paris an all out bowler. The left arm quick has 10 wickets which is good for the fifth most in the series, however it is the allrounders like Connolly and Hardie that are required to get breakthroughs against opposing batting lineups.

Melbourne Renegades Form


The ‘Gades pulled off a miracle in their Melbourne derby, beating the Stars with 1 ball remaining, after needing 13 off the final over by Marcus Stoinis. 

Will Sutherland was the late hero with 19 runs from just 7 balls in the critical overs, however, it was Josh Brown that laid the platform and put the Renegades in a winnable position with his 84 off 48 balls. 

Credit also has to go to the bowling attack of the Renegades, keeping the Stars to just 8.65 runs per over, getting key wickets and denying any of the opposition to score higher than 38 runs. 

It was a much needed win for the Renegades who had just one win in their opening 4 matches. With 5 matches remaining the ‘Gades will need to almost win out to ensure a finals berth.
