After defeating Wimbledon's Iga Swiatek, Tauson is in remarkable form and has a 1-0 advantage in previous matchups against Keys. Despite Keys' commendable record, including a Grand Slam win, recent performances suggest a decline. Keys needed to save match points against Karolina Muchova to reach this stage, whereas Tauson remains consistent, defeating top players with ease. Tauson is a promising contender to secure another upset.

Clara Tauson is aiming for a second straight win over a reigning Grand Slam champion when she comes up against Madison Keys in the Canada Open quarter-finals in Montreal on Tuesday night.

Tauson produced a thunderous performance to conquer reigning Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek in the previous round and will be hoping to add Australian Open winner Keys to her list of scalps in Montreal this week. The Dane has put together a great season and has already made a WTA 1000 final having done so in Dubai earlier in the year, so she has experience of these situations. Keys meanwhile hasn't been in the best of form over the last couple of months and needed to save match points to escape her R16 clash with Karolina Muchova.
I think Tauson is good value for the upset here. She defeated Keys in straight sets in their only previous meeting in Auckland to start the season - and Keys was obviously in good form as she went on to win the Australian Open later that month. Current form and previous H2H says Tauson has the edge, so happy to back the Dane as the underdog here.

As mentioned, Tauson leads 1-0, playing an outstanding match to defeat Keys 6-4 7-6 in the Auckland quarter-finals earlier this year before going on to win the title.
Madison Keys Form
Keys has registered a 35-12 record on the season, obviously highlighted by her maiden Grand Slam triumph at the Australian Open in January, where she won her final four matches in a deciding set - including against Elena Rybakina, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka.
After also winning the Adelaide title and reaching the Indian Wells semi-finals, Keys compiled a 16-match winning streak from January to March and was the hottest player on tour.
However, the wins have somewhat dried up for Keys over the last couple of months - although, she was still a quarter-finalist in Madrid and Roland Garros, along with making the Queen's Club semi-finals.
Keys suffered a disappointing third round Wimbledon exit to Laura Siegemund, but avenged that defeat in her Montreal opener, defeating the German in straight sets before posting three-set victories over Caty McNally and Karolina Muchova to make just her second quarter-final in Canada.
In fact, this is the first time Keys has gone past the second round in Canada since making the 2016 final, with the American saving two match points in her 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Muchova in the last 16.
Clara Tauson Form
It's been a fantastic season for Tauson - she's compiled a 31-15 record on the season and came into this tournament at a career-high ranking of No. 19, while she's currently at a live ranking of No. 17 after making the quarter-finals in Montreal.
Much like Keys, Tauson started the year with a bang, winning 15 of her opening 18 matches as she took home the title in Auckland, made the third round of the Australian Open, the semi-finals in Linz and the final at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai, where she beat Aryna Sabalenka and Elina Svitolina before going down to Mirra Andreeva in the final.
Tauson's form tailed off over the next few months, but she returned to some good tennis at Wimbledon, where she defeated Elena Rybakina before going down to Swiatek in the R16.
The 22-year-old made the quarter-finals in Washington before turning up the heat again in Montreal, advancing to the quarter-finals without dropping a single set, beating Lucia Bronzetti and Yuliia Starodubtseva before avenging her Wimbledon defeat to Swiatek, upstaging the Wimbledon champion 7-6(1), 6-3 in the R16.

Tauson is coming off a brilliant performance to beat Swiatek and she toppled Keys in straight sets in their only previous meetings on hardcourt.
I'm tipping the Dane to double down in Montreal.
