Ugo Humbert vs Christopher O'Connell Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Humbert to cruise into Rotterdam semis
Ugo Humbert is set to face Christopher O'Connell in the ATP Rotterdam quarter-finals. O'Connell, who has climbed back into the top 100 after a series of victories in Rotterdam, will have a tall task overcoming Humbert indoors. The Frenchman, known for indoor successes, recently upset Daniil Medvedev in the tournament's opening round. Despite O'Connell’s remarkable run, his track record against top 40 players isn't favorable, making Humbert the likely winner in a straight sets decision.

It's been an excellent tournament for O'Connell, who will find himself back inside the top 100 next week after his ranking took a slide in 2025 due to injury problems. The Aussie has won four matches in qualifying in Rotterdam this week, but his run most likely comes to an end here. Humbert is one of the best indoors players in the world and upset Daniil Medvedev in the opening round. The Frenchman has won his last four indoor quarter-finals and the big-serving lefty looks on course to make it five in Rotterdam.
I just can't see O'Connell doing any damage to Humbert - the Aussie is an underwhelming 15-40 lifetime against top 40 players and he's lost the bulk of those in straight sets. This setting plays to Humbert's strengths and the Frenchman should move into the final four in routine fashion.

Ugo Humbert Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 7-4
- ATP Rotterdam Record: 2-3
- Current Ranking: No. 36
- Career-High Ranking: No. 13 (2024)
It's been a solid start to the season for Humbert, who will be hoping to push towards the top 20 in the coming months.
Humbert played some great tennis in Adelaide to reach the final, going down in a quality match to Tomas Machac, but he was unfortunate to run into Ben Shelton in the first round of the Australian Open.
The Frenchman went down in a final set tiebreak to compatriot Adrian Mannarino in the second round of Montpellier last week, but has bounced back in Rotterdam, upsetting Daniil Medvedev 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-3 in the first round before easing past Dutch wildcard Guy Den Ouden in straights.
“This one is really great,” Humbert said of his win over Medvedev.
“My first win here, against Daniil… It’s a big victory and I’m super happy. I lost the second set, but I knew I was playing well. It was a great match from the beginning to the end. The last set was really solid.
“I know that, against Daniil you have to play a lot of rallies. I was ready to fight for each point and I did it.”
Humbert is chasing his eighth ATP title in Rotterdam and fifth indoors. He was previously winless at this event in three previous appearances.
Christopher O'Connell Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 2-2
- ATP Rotterdam Record: 2-0
- Current Ranking: No. 119
- Career-High Ranking: No. 53 (2023)
O'Connell endured a disappointing 2025 campaign that saw a few injuries pop up, resulting in him dropping outside the top 100.
It was a tough Aussie summer as well, with O'Connell bowing out of Brisbane and Adelaide qualifying, while he suffered a heartbreaking five-set first round Australian Open defeat to Nishesh Basavareddy.
The opening round defeats continued as O'Connell was bundled out of the Manama Challenger and Montpellier at the first hurdle.
However, it's all clicked into gear in Rotterdam, with O'Connell beating Vitaliy Sachko and Hugo Gaston in straight sets to qualify for the main draw before upsetting Valentin Royer and Cameron Norrie in the main draw to reach the last eight of a tour-level indoor event for just the second time.
