Alex de Minaur, the top seed, is in pursuit of his first ATP Rotterdam title and faces Dutch player Botic Van De Zandschulp in the quarter-finals. De Minaur has advanced to this stage for the fifth consecutive year and remains undefeated in sets this tournament. With a strong track record against players outside the top 40, De Minaur is favored to win. Van De Zandschulp, on the other hand, reached the Rotterdam quarter-finals for the first time, recently defeating a former champion. Expect De Minaur to extend his dominance.

Alex de Minaur vs Botic Van De Zandschulp Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Top seed Alex de Minaur continues his bid for a first Rotterdam title when he comes up against local hope Botic Van De Zandschulp in the quarter-finals on Friday.

De Minaur has advanced into his fifth Rotterdam quarter-final on the trot and remains on course for a third straight finals appearance at the ATP 500 tournament. The Aussie continues to go about his business and has moved into the last eight without dropping a set in fairly routine victories over Arthur Fils and Stan Wawrinka. Meanwhile, Van De Zandschulp has progressed to the Rotterdam quarter-finals for the first time in eight previous appearances, upsetting 2022 champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in the previous round.

De Minaur has won the three previous meetings between the pair and he's obviously favourite to extend that dominance here. The World No. 8 has a tremendous record against lower-ranked opposition, winning 70 of his last 78 matches against players outside the top 40. Van De Zandschulp has a big game, but he's lost 11 of his last 13 matches vs top 10 players. Backing Demon to cover and reach the final four.
  • De Minaur has a 70-8 record vs players outside the top 40 since the start of 2024
  • De Minaur has won 10 of his last 12 matches in Rotterdam
  • De Minaur has covered a -4.5 games line in nine of those 10 Rotterdam wins
  • Van De Zandschulp is 2-11 in his last 13 matches vs top 10 players
  • Ten of those 11 defeats have come in straight sets

Alex de Minaur Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 8-2
  • ATP Rotterdam Record: 15-5
  • Current Ranking: No. 8
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 6 (2024)

It's been a typically solid start to the year for De Minaur.

The Aussie made another Australian Open quarter-final, delivering crushing wins over Frances Tiafoe and Alexander Bublik before running into eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Opting to skip Davis Cup last weekend, de Minaur arrived in Rotterdam fresh and ready for a crack at the title, with Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner absent from the draw this time.

De Minaur has advanced into a fifth straight Rotterdam quarter-final, equaling Roger Federer's record at the event, beating Arthur Fils and Stan Wawrinka in straight sets.

“I think over the years it’s changed,” De Minaur responded when asked of his success at the tournament.
”Every year I’ve come here it has been a bit different in terms of the playing conditions. A little bit slower, and the balls are a little bit different, so I think I’m just doing a good job at adapting.
"I don’t think there are too many players out here who are feeling really comfortable, so it’s all about just finding a way and that is where I thrive.”

Botic Van De Zandschulp Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 5-3
  • ATP Rotterdam Record: 4-5
  • Current Ranking: No. 65
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 22 (2022)

Van De Zandschulp has struggled over the last few years, but he's made a decent start to 2026 as he looks to get back inside the top 50 and beyond.

It took top 10 players to defeat Van De Zandschulp in his first two tournaments of the year, going down to Alexander Bublik in the second round of Hong Kong and Novak Djokovic in the third round of the Australian Open.

There was also no shame in falling to indoors specialist Ugo Humbert in the first round of Montpellier last week.

Van De Zandschulp has copped some tough draws in Rotterdam lately, running into Alcaraz and Sinner in the last two years, but he's avoided the big names early this time and taken advantage, beating qualifier Luka Pavlovic before an impressive 6-4 7-6 victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round.

De Minaur is a nightmare for lower-ranked players and I'm backing the Aussie to cover a -4.5 games line in victory.
