Bublik has put together a career-best year, winning four ATP titles and he could potentially break into the world's top 15 for the first time after the conclusion of this tournament. Amazingly, Bublik is still an outside chance at the ATP Finals, but he would most likely have to win the Paris Masters and maybe even one of the 250 tournaments next week. While that probably won't happen, Bublik has a great chance of notching up his fifth top 10 victory of the year here.
Fritz has been well below his best since the US Open and after confirming his ATP Finals qualification by winning his opening round in Paris, I've got to question just how much he's got left for this tournament. The American is defending lots of points from making the final of the year-end championships last season and you've got to think that's the main priority now. Bublik looks more motivated than ever and we all know he's capable of beating almost anyone in this frame of mind - I'm backing the Kazakh to claim the upset in the French capital.

Currently level at 3-3. Bublik won the first three meetings between the pair before Fritz took the last three, including a most-recent 6-4 6-4 triumph at the Paris Olympics last year.

Fritz has registered a 52-20 record on the season coming into this contest, with 37 of those wins coming since the grass swing.
It was on grass that Fritz made his move after previously quiet year, winning two ATP titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne, along with reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals.
However, Fritz's form has dipped over the last couple of months, basically after a quarter-final exit to Novak Djokovic at the US Open.
The American lost early at both Shanghai and Basel to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Ugo Humbert in straight sets, while he needed a tiebreak to battle his way past qualifier Aleksandar Vukic in his Paris opener.

Bublik comes into this clash with a 35-20 record on the year, rising to a career-high ranking of No. 16 and improving his consistency and attitude to become a regular contender on tour.
It was looking like a nightmare season early on as Bublik tumbled outside of the world's top 90, but he's turned things around remarkably, winning four ATP titles in Halle, Kitzbuhel, Gstaad and Hangzhou, while he also made the French Open quarter-finals and US Open R16.
The 28-year-old made the Vienna quarter-finals last week, going down to Jannik Sinner, while he's looking strong so far this week in Paris, where he will now be hoping to make a first Masters 1000 quarter-final since 2021.
Bublik defeated Alexei Popyrin in straight sets in the first round before taking down Corentin Moutet in a fiery encounter, silencing the French crowd with a 6-3 7-5 triumph.
