De Minaur and Bublik locked horns in the second round of Roland Garros and it was the latter who emerged triumphant, coming back from two sets down to prevail in five. You could argue that win kick-started Bublik's current incredible run, which has seen him win 29 of his last 33 matches since the French Open, winning four ATP titles and rising to a current career-high live ranking of No. 13. Meanwhile, de Minaur has continued his remarkable consistency and officially secured ATP Finals qualification for the second consecutive year after crushing Karen Khachanov 6-2 6-2 to make the Paris Master quarter-finals for the third straight season.
The Aussie has lost both of his previous Paris Masters quarter-finals and I think he may suffer another defeat here. Bublik is on an insane run at the moment, losing only four matches since Roland Garros - and two of them were against Jannik Sinner. The Kazakh is a beast indoors and brushed fourth seed Taylor Fritz aside in straights in the previous round. I backed Bublik at $81 to win the title pre-tournament and there's no reason to hop off the bandwagon now.
Head To Head
De Minaur leads 3-1, but the only match that really matters now is that French Open second round showdown, with Bublik recovering from a two-set deficit to prevail 2-6 2-6 6-4 6-3 6-2.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur comes into this contest with a 54-21 record on the year, maintaining a ranking inside the top 10 and officially securing qualification into the ATP Finals for the second straight season.
Remaining ultra-consistent, de Minaur captured his 10th career title in Washington, finished runner-up in Rotterdam, made the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters and reached Grand Slam quarter-finals at the Australian Open and US Open.
The Aussie has a tour-leading 42 match wins on hardcourt in 2025 and is ending the year strongly, making the semi-finals in Vienna last week before advancing to his third straight Paris Masters quarter-final.
De Minaur battled past Gabriel Diallo in three sets in his opening round before demolishing 2018 Paris champion Karen Khachanov 6-2 6-2 in the R16.
Alexander Bublik Form
Bublik has compiled a 36-20 record on the season, with most of those wins coming during what has been a remarkable second-half of the year.
It was looking like Bublik was in danger of crashing out of the top 100 when he dropped to as low as No. 82 in March.
However, the 28-year-old has put together an incredible run since the French Open, going 29-4 and rising to a live ranking of No. 13.
Bublik has won titles in Halle, Kitzbuhel, Gstaad and Hangzhou, along with reaching the Roland Garros quarter-finals and US Open R16.
The Kazakh has now advanced to his first Masters 1000 quarter-final since 2021 in Paris - and he's done so without dropping a single set, easing past Alexei Popyrin, Corentin Moutet and fourth seed Taylor Fritz in straights.

Verdict
Bublik has only lost four matches since the French Open and two of them were to Sinner.
De Minaur is also in great form, but Bublik's peak level is higher - as we saw at the French Open. If Bublik maintains his current form, I think he pulls off the upset to make a first Masters 1000 semi-final.
