World No. 2 Jannik Sinner faces Fabian Marozsan in the China Open quarter-finals. Although a heavy favorite, Sinner has shown some vulnerability lately, having dropped sets to lower-ranked players and struggling against Terence Atmane. Marozsan, historically successful against top 10 players, comes into this match in good form, making it his third quarter-final appearance of the season. The prediction favors Sinner, but Marozsan is tipped to cover the games handicap and possibly take a set. Fans can catch the action live via streaming platforms subject to conditions.

Jannik Sinner vs Fabian Marozsan Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner continues his bid for a second China Open title when he comes up against the hard-hitting Fabian Marozsan in the quarter-finals in Beijing on Monday.

It's fair to say Sinner hasn't been at this dominant and intimidating best over the last couple of months. The Italian has relinquished his No. 1 ranking and dropped sets to a number of players he would usually crush, such as Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime at the US Open, while he also lost the second set and dropped serve a whopping three times against Terence Atmane in the Beijing second round. Now, Sinner takes on a player who has troubled top players throughout his career.

Indeed, Marozsan has a very respectable 6-9 record against top 10 players and has taken a set off Sinner before on the grass of Halle in 2024. Obviously there won't be much Marozsan can do if Sinner is at full fitness and operating at the peak of his powers, but the Italian hasn't been at that level lately. I'll back Marozsan to cover a big +6.5 games line and a smaller stake on the Hungarian to snatch a set.

Head To Head

Sinner leads 1-0, edging out Marozsan 6-4 6-7 6-3 in the second round of Halle last year.

Jannik Sinner Form

Sinner comes into this contest with a 39-5 record on the season and will be hoping to recapture the No. 1 ranking back from rival Carlos Alcaraz before 2025 comes to a close.

Of course, the primary reason Sinner has relinquished the No. 1 ranking was due to his three-month suspension earlier in the year. The Italian has only lost to one player outside of Alcaraz this season (Alexander Bublik in Halle), so he remains the unbackable favourite to claim the China Open title, with the Spaniard competing in Tokyo this week.

Sinner was plagued by health and fitness issues during Cincinnati and the US Open as he went down to Alcaraz in both finals and he's not looking his best so far in Beijing.

Toppling veteran Marin Cilic in his opening round was a formality, but Sinner struggled against Atmane in the following round, dropping serve three times in the second set before regrouping and delivering a a bagel in the decider for a 6-4 5-7 6-0 victory.

Fabian Marozsan Form

Marozsan has ticked his season record over into the positives with his quarter-final run in Beijing, heading into this contest having won 23 of his 55 matches.

It's just the third time this season that Marozsan has been able to reach the quarter-finals, with the Hungarian coming into Beijing on a three-match losing streak, including falling in the first round of the US Open to qualifier Ugo Blanchet.

However, Marozsan is finding some form again in the Chinese capital, eliminating a pair of Frenchman in Benjamin Bonzi and Alexandre Muller in straight sets.

Marozsan has won six of his 15 previous matches against top 10 players, while he also took a set off Alcaraz at Roland Garros this year.

Verdict

Sinner hasn't been at his absolute best lately and dropped a set in his previous round against Atmane.

Marozsan has a proven ability to challenge top 10 players and took a set off Sinner in their only previous meeting - the Hungarian might be able to rise to the occasion again in Beijing.
