Arthur Rinderknech vs Valentin Vacherot Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Cousins collide again in Shanghai rematch
Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot, cousins, are set to clash in the second round of the Paris Masters. This meeting comes after Vacherot's impressive run at the Shanghai Masters, where he emerged victorious against Rinderknech. Since then, Vacherot has maintained his formidable form, beating top seeds like Jiri Lehecka in Paris. Rinderknech, also performing well, recently opted out of Basel to focus on recovery. As they face each other again, Vacherot is favored to continue his winning streak, with experts predicting another tight three-set match.

In what was one of the most extraordinary moments in recent tennis history, Rinderknech and Vacherot made unlikely runs to the Shanghai Masters final earlier this month - and it was Vacherot, who completed a fairytale run from qualifying alternate and outside the world's top 200 to secure the title in what was a life-changing result. Now ranked inside the top 40 and close to being seeded at the slams, Vacherot has maintained that level, absolutely crushing 14th seed Jiri Lehecka in straight sets in the opening round.
Rinderknech made the decision to withdraw from Basel last week and returned to edge out Fabian Marozsan in two tiebreaks in his opening round. Not much separated the pair in that Shanghai final, with Vacherot recovering from dropping the opening set to prevail in three. The Monegasque is still operating at a high level and hasn't dipped, like many expected him too. I'm going to back a repeat of that result, with Vacherot once again sneaking past his cousin in three.
Head To Head
As mentioned, Vacherot leads 1-0, defeating Rinderknech 4-6 6-3 6-3 in the final of the Shanghai Masters earlier this month.
Arthur Rinderknech Form
Rinderknech comes into this contest with a 27-26 record on the season, really picking things up during the second half of the year.
Indeed, after a poor start to 2025, Rinderknech has taken his game to another level, registering a 13-4 record since the start of August, while he's also gone 8-3 against top 20 opponents since June after previously holding a 0-16 record against that level of opponent.
The Frenchman defeated Alexander Zverev at Wimbledon and made the fourth round of the US Open before his brilliant run to the Shanghai Masters final, where he defeated the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Zverev again.
Rinderknech made the smart decision to withdraw from Basel last week in order to fully recover from his Shanghai exploits before returning in Paris, where he snuck past the dangerous Fabian Marozsan 7-6 7-6 in the opening round.
The 30-year-old was 0-4 in Paris before last year, where he reached the R16 before going down in a deciding set tiebreak to Grigor Dimitrov.
Valentin Vacherot Form
Vacherot has compiled a 13-3 record at tour-level this season, making one of the biggest ranking jumps in recent memory after his extraordinary run to the Shanghai Masters title.
The Monegasque player has been toiling away on the Challenger Tour following his stint in US college tennis, but his life and career changed with an instant earlier this month.
Ranked outside the top 200 and an alternate in qualifying, Vacherot snuck into the draw at the last-minute and ultimately won nine matches - including conquering Novak Djokovic and Holger Rune - to become the lowest-ranked Masters 1000 champion in history.
Now inside the world's top 40, Vacherot has a legitimate chance to be seeded at next year's Australian Open if he keeps winning. The 26-year-old pushed Taylor Fritz to three sets in the opening round of Basel last week and produced a scintillating performance in his Paris main draw debut, demolishing Jiri Lehecka 6-1 6-3.
