Macarthur FC vs Bangkok United Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Macarthur will need to pull off a big comeback if they are to advance into the AFC Champions League quarter-finals. The Bulls trail 0-2 as they prepare for their second-leg clash with Bangkok United on Thursday night at Campbelltown Stadium.

It was a tough night at the office for Macarthur in the first leg in Thailand. Mitch Duke hit the post early and the Bulls proceeded to concede twice in a physical game, meaning they must overturn a 0-2 deficit in order to keep their AFC Champions League 2 campaign alive.

I'm predicting an open game here. Macarthur need goals and will throw bodies forward, leaving them vulnerable at the back. Bangkok were effective on the counter in the first leg and have several dangerous players who can make an impact in the final third. I'm backing both teams to find the back of the net and Bangkok in the Double Chance market, with Macarthur struggling to put wins on the board lately.
  • Macarthur have won just one of their last one of their last seven games in all comps
  • Bangkok are unbeaten in their last 10 games inside 90 mins in all comps
  • Macarthur have seen BTTS land in four of their last five games
  • Bangkok have scored at least one goal in their last 12 games

Macarthur FC vs Bangkok United Head To Head

Bangkok emerged 2-0 winners at home in Rangsit in the first leg. The Thai side enjoyed an xG of 1.62 to Macarthur's 0.39 and led the shot count 15-7.

Macarthur FC Form Analysis

Macarthur are fifth in the A-League with a competition-high seven draws.

The Bulls have been guilty of not finishing their chances lately and come into this clash having won just one of their last seven games in all competions.

Mile Sterjovski's side went down 2-0 to Bangkok in the first leg on the road after previously going five games unbeaten in Asia through the group stage.

Mitch Duke was unlucky not to open the scoring as he struck the woodwork early, with Bangkok then taking control of the game.

“I’m disappointed with the result. Credit to Bangkok United, they played a very good game. But this is only half-time in the tie. We have another match next week and we’ll be ready for it. We’ll look to respond and get ourselves back into it,” said Sterjovski.

“We knew it’s always difficult when we travel and it’ll be the same for them (Bangkok United) when they come to Australia. We had a very good chance in the first half, we hit the post and the game could have unfolded differently."

Bangkok United Form Analysis

Bangkok come into this clash on the back of a four-match winning streak in all competitions.

Totchatawan Sripan's side currently trail Buriram United by 14 points at the top of the Thai Premier League table, but did beat the leaders 2-0 on the road earlier this month, demonstrating their current good form.

After a 2-1 triumph over Shan United in the ASEAN Club Championship, Bangkok continued their winning ways with a 2-0 dispatch of Macarthur in the first leg of this R16 tie.

Goals from Ilias Alhaft and Arthur gave Bangkok a comfortable lead heading into this second leg clash in Campbelltown.

“I’m very happy with the three points but we still have another game to deal with and we have to play away from home. It certainly won’t be easy,” said Totchatawan.
“It was a very demanding match because Macarthur played a very physical game and relied a lot on crosses into the box. It was a tough battle for us.“But the job is not finished yet and we need to stay focused and prepare well for the next game.”
