Sydney FC is set to face Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium in A-League Round 18. Both teams have faced recent challenges, with Sydney only winning one of their last six games, now holding the third spot just above Melbourne Victory. Brisbane Roar has seen a significant drop in form, winning only once in 2026 so far. This match is crucial for both teams, especially for Sydney to maintain a strong league position. The game is expected to feature goals from both ends, and it marks an opportunity for Sydney's Joe Lolley to shine post-injury.

Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar Tips & Prediction

Sydney FC will be hoping to get their season back on track when they come up against the struggling Brisbane Roar in A-League Round 18 action at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

It's been a tough period for Sydney, winning just one of their last six games. They've fallen from the top of the table down to third, just two points ahead of sixth-placed Melbourne Victory. The Sky Blues suffered more disappointment mid-week when they conceded a 95th minute own goal to draw 1-1 with Auckland. Meanwhile, the Roar have most definitely come crashing back down to earth after their promising start to the season, coming into this clash with just one win in 2026 - although they did manage to earn a point away to Victory last week.

If Sydney are serious about challenging for the premiership, then a home game against one of the league's worst teams is simply must-win. I don't have much faith in them at the moment, but this is more to do with Brisbane's poor form. I'll back the Sky Blues to lift in a game that features goals at both ends. This seems like a good moment for Joe Lolley to get back amongst the goals after working his way back from a hamstring injury over the last few weeks.
  • Roar only have won A-League win away to Sydney since 2018
  • Roar have lost six of their last eight games
  • BTTS has landed in Roar's last five games
  • BTTS has landed in three of Sydney's last four games
  • BTTS has landed in the last four meetings between the teams
  • Joe Lolley is Sydney's joint top-scorer with four goals despite missing half the season through injury
  • The winning team has scored 3+ goals in four of the last six meetings between the sides

Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar Head To Head

This will be their first encounter for over a year, with Brisbane prevailing in a 4-3 thriller in Round 15 last term.

Sydney FC Form Analysis

Sydney come into this contest with a 8-2-7 record for the season, slipping down to third on the ladder after flying high in first not so long ago.

Ufuk Talay's side have won just one of their last six games, suffering back-to-back defeats against Auckland and Adelaide before Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Auckland.

Alexandar Popovic looked to have secured all three points for Sydney when he scored in the 84th minute, but late heartbreak ensued, with Jordan Courtney-Perkins belting an attempted clearance straight into Alex Grant in the 95th minute. The ball ricocheted into the back of the net and Sydney had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Talay was still optimistic post-match with his side's performance.

“They (the team) are pretty upset because they know that we dropped two points, but overall pleased in what we presented performance-wise,” Talay said.
“We played a lot better than the opposition.”

Brisbane Roar Form Analysis

It's been a dire 2026 for Brisbane.

After being entrenched in the top four to start the season, the Roar have since lost six of their last eight games, tumbling down to eighth.

Brisbane were on a three-game losing streak before last week's clash with Victory, going down to Adelaide, Newcastle and Central Coast.

Still, the Roar managed to find the back in all of those defeats and their hard work was rewarded somewhat last week when they equalised to earn a 1-1 draw away to Victory. Socceroos hopeful Nicholas D’Agostino got on the scoresheet against his former club.
