The Round 24 NRL clash between the Sydney Roosters and Canterbury Bulldogs is set to be an exciting encounter. The Bulldogs enter as slight favorites, although the Roosters have a dominant recent head-to-head advantage. The Roosters boast a strong offense, highlighted by last week's 64-point victory, and Daniel Tupou likely to perform well again. The Bulldogs, despite past struggles, are on an upward scoring trend with their dynamic duo, Lachie Galvin and Matt Burton. Expect a competitive game with a winning margin potentially within a converted try.

Sydney hold a dominant 6-3 lead in recent head to head matches and won the game played earlier this season 24-20 at Accor. That game was played in the wet, something the Bulldogs have struggled with all season long. The conditions this Friday are expected to be much better.

The Roosters will come into this matchup with a boatload of confidence following their 64-12 win over the Dolphins last weekend. Their attack has not missed a beat over the last 5 weeks with an average score of 32.6 pts, Sam Walker fitting seamlessly back into the team. His kicking game has opened up new scoring opportunities for Tupou and Nawaqanitawase while James Tedesco has turned back the clock as the most inform fullback in the comp.

The Bulldogs have struggled to put points past the Roosters in recent years, averaging just 16.4 pts per game. But they have started to see things click with the Lachie Galvin and Matt Burton combination bearing fruit. They have scored 24 pts per game over their last 5 including a 40+ and a 30+ game in the past 3 weeks.

This game will no doubt finish close, 5 of the last 6 have been decided by a converted try or less. Take the Dogs 1-12 with the Game Total to go Over. It is almost impossible to stop the Roosters wingers right now, book Daniel Tupou in for another right here.

  • 5 of the last 6 games between these sides have finished with margins of 6 pts or less.
  • Both teams have shown strong defence at times this season but are now firing in attack, the Roosters are 2nd and Dogs 7th in points scored over the last 5 games.
  • The Bulldogs right side defence has given up 44% of opposition tries this season.
  • Daniel Tupou has scored in 5 of his last 6 games and has crossed as the first tryscorer on 3 occasions this season.

Head to Head

These two teams have played 9 times since the start of the 2019 season. Sydney hold a 6-3 lead in the head to head record. The Roosters have won all 3 games as the home team during that span but this will be the first game at Allianz since before 2019.

The Game Total has gone Under in the last 2 games and in 5 of the last 9 while the winning margin has been 8pts or less in 6 of the last 9 indicating a close matchup is often the case.

Sydney Roosters Form Analysis

The Roosters put on one of, if not the best, attacking performances of the season last weekend against the Dolphins, piling on 64 points in their latest victory. They are the 2nd best scoring team in the NRL over the last 5 rounds and 4th over the course of the season.

The win puts Sydney on 10 wins, the same as the Dolphins but with an inferior points differential which keeps them in 9th spot for the time being. The Roosters have missed finals just once since the 2013 season (2016) winning 3 premierships and playing in 4 prelims during that span.

Sydney have the top ranked Efficiency Inside 20m scoring a try for every 6.3 tackles in the opposition Red Zone but they have the fewest number of opportunities, ranked 17th with just 22.3 tackles per game on their opponents goal line.

Canterbury Bulldogs Form Analysis

Canterbury were finally able to get a win in the wet last weekend, taking down the New Zealand Warriors 32-14 once again flexing their muscles in 2025. The Dogs dominated their opponent across the field both with and without the ball.

They ran for 1185 Metres while holding the Wahs to just 981, they had 31 Tackles Inside 20m for 5 tries and they put on a whopping 748 Kick Metres despite 8 of their 22 kicks being attacking plays.

The Dogs are still a highly ranked defensive outfit allowing just 14.4 pts per game to opponents over their last 5 games where they have gone 4-1 straight up. The attack has spluttered throughout the season but with Lachie Galvin warming into his role the points are starting to tick.
