Seymour Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 10 Bel Lupa

Greg Eurell’s filly showed promise in her Cranbourne jump-outs, registering two wins and a second from four appearances.

She’s since placed in both starts to date, including a Bendigo maiden on debut last month where she was well supported but slow away, finishing second despite doing a few things wrong.

The daughter of Wolf Cry then handled quicker conditions when runner-up again at Benalla, stepping up to 1206m on a Good 3 surface.

Barrier eleven isn’t ideal, but Jamie Mott sticks with her, and with further improvement expected third-up, she looks ready to break through.

Sejardan @ Blue Gum Farm BM66 Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Seymour Best Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Morrissette

The experienced mare has been in consistent touch since a below-par run at Sandown in July, notching a win and three placings from her past four starts.

She was narrowly beaten here on a wet track that same month before bouncing back to score over 2100m at Sandown in similar company.

Morrissette then contested stronger metro races, including a third at Moonee Valley and a narrow second when freshened and dropped to 1800m at Flemington.

Reece Goodwin’s mare has been holding her form well, and back in grade here, she looks ideally placed to return to the winner’s stall.

Seymour Value Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Abovethefrostline

The grey mare resumes from a spell and boasts two wins from eight career starts, including an impressive Moonee Valley victory over 1000m earlier this year.

She dictated that race from the front and was sent for a break following the effort, having reached a new career peak.

Abovethefrostline returned with a solid second at Mornington when again racing on speed, beaten just under five lengths in a Benchmark 62.

Marcus Fahler’s mare draws to find the rail here, and with Daniel Stackhouse taking over, she looks value to give a bold sight fresh.

Bet365 Seymour Cup (Listed) Tips (Race 8)

Seymour Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Hard To Cross

The New Zealand-bred gelding was below expectations at Sandown last time, but the form has since been franked with the eighth home that day running well in The Bart Cummings.

Prior to that, he’d been a model of consistency, winning at Moonee Valley and finishing runner-up in Ballarat’s Gold Nugget over 1600m.

He’s a proven performer at this distance, with six of his seven victories coming over the mile, and any easing in the track would be no issue.

With the Payne stable firing and his record suggesting he bounces back quickly, Hard To Cross can deliver another feature success.
