Rosehill Favourite - Race 2 No. 10 Christa
It was an excellent training effort from Todd Howlett to get a first-up victory for Christa, who was resuming last month off a 13 month absence and the mare did show ability over her first two preps.
The daughter of Epaulette opened her account with a debut victory over this trip, where she beat a useful Hellcibell at Scone and she was tipped out after completing a double at the same venue.
In decent country events, she easily could've won both starts last year and the recent form through Show 'Em Howl should stack up, as that runner was unlucky in a June Highway before a competitive showing via a Saturday BM72.
Asahi Super Dry Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Rosehill Roughie - Race 3 No. 10 Reflect
While 1100m proved too sharp on debut before a spell, that Warwick Farm performance was better than it reads and the form through the trifecta of that February 19 race reads quite well.
1200m was also on the short side for her July 19 resumption, where she was ridden very cold, but the Joe Pride-trained galloper got warm late and she'll continue improve as the distances increase.
Reflect is very well bred, being by So You Think and from a three-time stakes placed mare who is out of a dual Group 1 winner, while 1300m suits in this second-up assignment (recent tick-over trial was good).
Captivant Kia Ora Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Rosehill Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Our Gold Hope
With many returning middle-distance/staying types and some others who aren't particularly suited here, a two bet play with War Eternal and Our Gold Hope appeals in the opening leg of the Quaddie.
War Eternal sets up well third-up as the fit runner ready to peak at 1400m and after building over 1200m-1300m in Group company early last prep, this distance also brings Our Gold Hope into calculations fresh.
She was competitive at stakes level throughout her three and four-year-old seasons, with four Group placings (also good without luck on multiple occasions last autumn) and her last winter trial was sharp in a strong heat.
TAB Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Rosehill Best Bet - Race 9 No. 7 Polyglot
He didn't quite progress last campaign when resuming as a gelding in 2025, but Polyglot still opened that prep with a fresh victory on a Soft 7 over this track/trip and J-Mac was aboard in that triumph.
The champion hoop also has Saturday's first-up engagement and he sticks from a nice trial win at Rosehill on July 29, with the Godolphin runner having completed two winter heats for his new stable (ex-James Cummings).
There's still upside with Polyglot, who contested two handy Melbourne races after breaking through on a Heavy 8 over this distance and a wide barrier could be an advantage late in the day on a worn surface.
Petaluma Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Rosehill Value Bet - Race 10 No. 3 Disneck
The son of Trapeze Artist has a big finish, which was evident in his July 19 resumption over 1100m and it's worth noting that he has no first-up victories to his name (often improves second-up).
Connections will be hopeful of a black-type win with Disneck this prep, who was good without luck via a Group 3 attempt in February, while he arrived to that event off a winning hat-trick over December and January.
Ideally, he'd be on firmer ground, however, his stats are somewhat inconclusive, as his only big failure in three Heavy tries was as a 100/1 chance when two stones heavier in the 2023 Inglis Sires' and he's far more furnished now.
