Randwick Tips December 13
In Memory Of Sam Kavanagh Handicap Tips (Race 1)
Randwick Favourite - Race 1 No. 4 Hyperbolic
Hyperbolic is a very genuine mare who has only finished outside the top four twice, including a November 12 resumption that was stronger than it first appeared.
The second-up win as our value bet of the day was authoritative, with the Brad Widdup-trained runner well supported and pulling clear late.
That November 29 performance also delivered the second fastest last 400m of the entire Rosehill program.
Although untested at 1600m, her recent effort suggests the rise in trip should be manageable.
Remaining in BM78 grade and only 1kg higher third-up keeps her well placed, with rain-affected going the main query.
Oran Park Midway Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Randwick Best Bet - Race 3 No. 13 Oui Oui Oui
Oui Oui Oui shapes as a mare capable of progressing beyond Midway level.
The Newcastle return win indicated she has come back in excellent order, and the second-up set-up looks favourable despite the wide alley.
A drop of 3kg from her resumption enhances her prospects, especially in this company.
She is proven in all conditions, including a third-up heavy-track win last campaign, which adds further depth to her profile.
Her Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas run was better than the figures suggest, and while the slight drop to 1200m is noted, class can bridge that gap.
Jack Ingham AO Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Randwick Value Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Axius
Axius has a clear affinity for rain-affected ground, with all three wins arriving on soft or heavy tracks.
The only notable miss came at Group 3 level early last season before a long spell.
A gelding operation preceded his winter return win at Randwick Kensington, where he edged out Epic Proportions, a stablemate who has since progressed to Listed success in Brisbane.
His lead-up trial suggested he has returned in solid shape, finding the line strongly.
From barrier four, Axius profiles as a key on-speed player with Nash Rawiller engaged.
The Ingham Tips (Race 8)
Randwick Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 20 Sabaj
This $2 million Ingham has drawn a high-quality field, and Sabaj is emerging as one of the most compelling runners in the race.
The four-year-old was unlucky in Sydney first-up on stable debut for Price and Kent Jnr before returning to Melbourne and notching back-to-back wins.
His latest success in the Cranbourne Cup showed the level he is building towards.
Randwick’s spacious circuit should be an ideal platform for him.
He handles soft ground, stays down in the weights, and receives 8kg from Gringotts, which could prove pivotal over a high-pressure Randwick mile.
Saddles @ Mount White Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Randwick Roughie - Race 10 No. 16 Barbray
Barbray is an appealing knockout chance fresh for the Chris Waller stable.
Two lead-up trials have him ready to perform, with the latest Canterbury effort a strong pointer to his condition.
His first campaign stacked up well, producing two wins on affected ground before rising to stronger company.
A Queensland trip followed where he wasn’t disgraced in the Group 3 Winx Guineas at a single-figure quote.
From a soft draw and with 1400m a suitable starting point, he is capable of making an impact at odds.
