The youngster showed up well in his barrier trials, delivering two victories prior to debuting at Doomben in June.

The son of Yes Yes Yes caught the eye when producing a solid effort from off the pace, finishing fifth and beaten seven lengths in a 1110m maiden on that occasion.

He shaped as a horse who would improve significantly for that experience—having been difficult to load that day—and he broke through for his first win at this venue the following month.

A change of tactics saw the gelding roll forward, control the race, and score by more than three lengths in a 1000m maiden on a Soft 5, with the well-held third horse subsequently winning on the Gold Coast synthetic two starts later.

Spelled following that victory, he impressed again when taking out a Deagon barrier trial last month, and from a favourable draw here he is expected to make a winning seasonal return.

The five-year-old arrives in excellent form, having won three of her last four starts.

Two of those victories came at this track, the most recent being a narrow but authoritative win over this distance in October.

She was freshened after that performance and returned with a highly credible third at Sunshine Coast last time out, beaten less than two lengths.

That form has stacked up well, with the winner and fourth horse subsequently performing with credit in Group 3 and Listed company, suggesting she is ready to handle this step up in grade.

Tony Gollan has trained the last three winners of this race, and while last year’s victor Golden Boom is again in the field, Emily Lang’s mount appeals at odds; despite a wide draw, she handles the distance and expected conditions and looks value to return to winning ways.

Annabel & Rob Archibald’s runner has previously performed well in Group company, including a third in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m in May.

He raced on a heavy surface that day and while his final two runs of that prep were below best, he has returned in strong form this time in Sydney.

The four-year-old resumed with a sharp win on good ground in a 1200m Benchmark 78 at Rosehill last month and has since added another victory in similar grade when rising to 1300m back at Rosehill last weekend.

He again proved too strong in the finish, scoring by just under half-a-length, and importantly he holds a solid record on wet tracks should rain arrive.

A good barrier enhances his prospects, and the decision to scratch from a Rosehill race to target this event looks a move that can pay dividends.

Seven Just Now (Listed) Tips (Race 9)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 6 Lonhro’s Queen

The daughter of Lonhro has shown her best on rain-affected ground, delivering three wins from nine starts on the forecast soft conditions.

That includes a strong first-up victory in a 1000m Class 6 plate on a Soft 5 at Eagle Farm early last month.

She followed that with a good fourth at Sunshine Coast eighteen days later, beaten less than two lengths after settling rear of midfield and closing nicely.

A rise to 1200m at Doomben last start saw her take another step forward, finishing second in the Listed Tattersall’s Classic for Chris & Corey Munce.

With the extra 100m expected to suit and Martin Harley sticking after partnering her in all three runs this campaign, the mare looks capable of turning the tables on Tattersall’s Classic winner Midnight In Tokyo.
