Northam Tips September 4

Countrywide Maintenance Services Maiden Tips (Race 3)

Northam Best Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Bondi Star

It is easy to like her last start reference through Nine Ball, a progressive galloper who came from the rear to record a stylish Class 3 victory at Belmont yesterday.

Bondi Star was well backed in that clash when runner-up to Nine Ball, where she came from back in the field with the third-fastest last 200m of the Pinjarra card on August 20.

She now steps back up to a mile, having contested a maiden over this track and trip two starts back where she was set an impossible task but still made inroads late.

That effort showed Bondi Star is capable when given the right set-up, and she has continued to progress with racing.

This looks a perfect opportunity to breakthrough, with the second market elect arriving off a heavy debut defeat at 150/1.

Dunnings Maiden Tips (Race 4)

Northam Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Productive

While beaten as an odds-on quote second-up, Productive gets a chance to atone now back on the turf after spotting them a start on the Fibre Sand at Bunbury.

His prior form stands out in this provincial maiden, as he arguably should have won first-up at Belmont on August 6 when negotiating traffic before finishing runner-up over 1200m.

That winner (My Authoritah) franked the form with a Saturday metro victory at his next appearance, where he beat a handy Country God, who bolted in seven days later.

Clint Johnston-Porter now takes the reins on this Daniel and Ben Pearce-trained galloper, and he has been in superb touch for the stable this season.

Porter has ridden four winners and four placegetters from 10 rides for the Pearce team in 2025/26, and that strike-rate adds confidence he can deliver again here.

Medicaid WA Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Northam Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Caraway

She was plain when stepping up to 1650m in a Belmont Class 1 on May 21, where Caraway was spelled as a result, although her prior three autumn runs were all encouraging.

That included a narrow fresh defeat over this distance on April 3 before being unlucky second-up when finding trouble, while she made amends with a third-up breakthrough on March 1.

Caraway has since trialled at Belmont on August 18 where she closed off nicely over 1000m without blinkers, which are reapplied for race day.

Apprentice Tiana Murray was aboard in that trial and retains the engagement, with her 4kg claim a handy advantage.

She also caught the eye when runner-up via her only previous Northam attempt early last season, which was contested over this distance.
