Lando Norris will be out to take his maiden race win at his home track of Silverstone, after standing after finishing third in 2024 and second in 2023. However, Championship leader Oscar Piastri will be eager to take back the points he lost in second at the Red Bull Ring.

All the teams have come back to Europe with significant upgrades and the British GP will be another test to see who has truly made improvements. Ferrari look like they have made the biggest jump with Charles Leclerc claiming third in Austria with Lewis Hamilton right behind him.

The Silverstone circuit has always been one of the fastest on the calendar and with corners like Maggotts, Becketts and Abbey the drivers really start to feel the g-forces pull.

George Russell stole pole in 2024 with a 1’25.819 pipping his Mercedes partner Lewis Hamilton by 0.171 sec. Russell has been strong in qualifying in 2025 but appeared well off the pace in Austria 0.792 of Norris’s pole lap.

Lando Norris started last year's race from third, but with the pace in the McLaren at the moment it is hard to see anyone else on the front row of the grid at Silverstone.

The question here will be, which order will the McLarens start. Norris has been poor under pressure in the early stages of his career and although he appears to be finding his composure, will his home race put too much weight on his shoulders if Piastri is finding pace.

Lewis Hamilton took an emphatic race victory at Silverstone last year ahead of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.

Ferrari saw some clear improvement in the car and it would be another classic Hamilton storyline if he was able to get his first win for Team Scuderia at his home grand prix. It is worth a little splash at least because we know the racing gods do shine on the 7-time world champ.

The more likely outcome is a McLaren 1-2. Once again it will just be picking which order that is the conundrum. The bookies have them at the same odds, unable to split the pair.

I’m going to take Piastri to ruin the party and Norris to crumble under the pressure of his home fans. It is going to take a mistake from Norris or a faster qualifying lap from Piastri if the Australian is going to win.

Don’t expect any tough racing between the pair this week with Norris likely getting a free pass to win his home GP if the pace of their cars are equal.
