Australia vs Pakistan Women Preview & Tips

Australia Women were too good for New Zealand in their opening match of the World Cup as they easily beat their opponents by 89 runs before they were left frustrated in a no result against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Women slipped to a second successive loss at the World Cup as they were hammered by India in an 88 run loss.

Australia have never lost to Pakistan in the 50 over format, winning all 14 of their ODI encounters.

Australia Women Form

Australia Women were only denied a shot at making it two consecutive wins at the Women's Cricket World Cup by the weather, with the match abandoned without a ball being bowled.

In their opener, the Aussies were excellent, slamming their way to 326. In reply, New Zealand were skittled for 237, with Australia rounding off a strong batting display with a supreme bowling performance.

With the bat, Ash Gardner was excellent. Her 115 from 83 allowed Australia to put their foot down and go well beyond the 300 run mark. Their clash with Pakistan is one the bookies believe will end in an easy win for the Aussies, and I agree. 14 consecutive wins over Pakistan in the ODI format is a stunning run, while they will have the bit between their teeth heading into game three as they look to make up for lost time from the rained off second match.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan Women are in big trouble, with a brace of defeats seeing their hopes of snaring a semi-final spot take a major blow.

Pakistan followed up their seven wicket loss to Bangladesh with an 88 run loss to India. Frustratingly, after skittling India for 247, Pakistan's batters once again let the side down as they were bowled out for just 159. Another defeat will put Pakistan on the brink with more than half their group games still to come.

While Pakistan will hope for a response in their third match, I do not see anything other than another defeat for the nation. Australia are the best side in the women's game, while they know they have to win after their second game was rained off. I predict that Pakistan will feel the full force of an Aussies outfit that has to win.
