Australia Women vs England Women Form

Australia Women can secure a major statement win over England in their penultimate group game, with this moving them clear at the top of the CWC ladder.

England Women are also eyeing up top-spot on the ladder, with a win over the Aussies seeing them strengthen their hopes of ending the group stage as the top ranked side.

Head To Head

Australia have won six of their last 10 against England in the 50 over game, with their opponents winning the other four.

Australia Women Form

Australia Women have proved far too good for each opponent they have come up against at the World Cup this year, with only the weather stopping them from securing a perfect record as their clash with Sri Lanka was rained off.

Their most impressive win at the World Cup so far came as they beat India by three-wickets. The co-hosts of the tournament were looking for a chance to get back to winning ways, but they were denied in dramatic style as the Aussies won with three wickets and six balls to spare.

Alyssa Healy was key to their win over India, with her stunning 142 paving the way to success. Healy is injured for Australia's clash with England, meaning someone else with have to stand up. I am backing opening partner Phoebe Litchfield to be the player to score the runs as she puts England's bowlers under extreme pressure.

England Women Form

England Women are on the cusp of moving clear at the top of the World Cup ladder, but the best team in women's cricket is standing in their way.

Wins over South Africa (by 10-wickets), Bangladesh (by four-wickets), Sri Lanka (by 89-runs) and India (by four-runs) has seen the English win all four of their competed matches. Their no result against Pakistan saw England secure a point they did not deserve as they were well and truly on the backfoot against their opponents and hurtling towards defeat.

Against Australia, I back England to struggle. The English have had their wobbly moments throughout the tournament, but no side has been able to capitalise. I back the best tournament team in the women's game to come up trumps as they hand England their first defeat.

Verdict

Australia Women v England Women

I am backing Litchfield to put in another strong batting performance as England are beaten by their old rivals.
