Despite a raft of injuries to the Swans they have enough cattle in the important positions to continue to push for a finals spot and North will do little to stand in their way.

The Kangaroos have been poor defensively for most of the season but their last 3 games have been terrible, giving up and average of 134 pts per game to opponents. They have held dominance in the stoppages thanks to Tristan Xerri who is likely to spend a stint on the sidelines following foul play last weekend.

Sydney haven’t ranked highly in any important attacking stats this season but watching them, you see that they still have the ability to move the ball quickly and efficiently from their backline into scoring position. Their finishing is missing polish but given enough cracks at it, you are bound to get at least a couple scores on the board.

Take Sydney to go Over their Team Total, cracking 100 points for just the second time this season. Jake Lloyd has been given a licence to score, get his ladders on 2+ & 3+ goals. Similarly Will Hayward is taking on a bigger role without Amartey in the mix, he could go for 3+.

  • North Melbourne have allowed an average of 134 pts to opponents over their last 3 games.
  • Sydney have scored 117+ pts vs North in 3 of their past 4 matchups.
  • Jake Lloyd has significantly increased his shots on goal over the past 3 weeks and has kicked 5 goals in his past 2 games.
  • Will Hayward had 3 goals from 3 shots last weekend and has kicked 3 majors in 2 of his last 4 games.

Head to Head

Sydney dominate this head to head matchup having won every single game played since the start of the 2019 season giving them an 8-0 record.

North Melbourne have managed to cover the line in half the games, at least evening out that ledger at 4-4 ATS. The Game Total has gone Over in 5 of 8 matchups.

The most recent meeting was a 117-52 victory to the Swans at Marvel in Round 4.

The Swans have won 2 in a row and 4 of the last 5 to keep their finals hopes alive. 13 wins has guaranteed a finals berth the last 3 seasons which means they will need to go undefeated the rest of the way to get there.

It almost all came undone last weekend as they scraped past St Kilda by 5 points 92-87. The match was a see-saw of momentum but it was the Swans and Errol Gulden who came up clutch to steal the victory.

Gulden topped his team with 23 disposals to go with a goal, 3 tackles and 3 clearances. The Swans are one of the best teams in the AFL in restricting opponent Stoppage Clearances and Hitouts to Advantage.

Still a lot going on with the injury list at the Swans. Tom Papley is likely to need at least another week to rehab his hamstring and won’t be risked in this matchup. Dane Rampe should be back on deck after just missing out last week.

Another big loss for the Kangas last weekend to cross-town rivals Melbourne 119-83. After a string of games where they were able to hold opponents to manageable totals they have now given up 119+ points in their last 3 matches, conceding an average of 134 points across the span.

Their own scoring has picked up as they have cracked 80+ points in two straight games for just the second time this season (Rd 1 + 2). Cooper Harvey and Cam Zurhaar did the bulk of the scoring with big man Nick Larkey out of action.

Harry Sheezel topped all Roos with 29 disposals and 4 clearances while Tristan Xerri had 22 hitouts and 6 tackles and might be in doubt for this clash following a high shot on Tom Sparrow.

The Kangaroos will sweat the MRO decision on Tristan Xerri but could welcome back a host of players including Nick Larkey, Luke Davies-Uniacke, George Wardlaw and Luke McDonald.
