Geelong will be looking to rebound at home when they host St Kilda on Sunday at GMHBA Stadium, where they've dominated the Saints for over two decades, winning the past 12 encounters there.

St Kilda have been a bit of a bogey side for the Cats, having taken out the last two matches between the two sides, including the Round 2 meeting, but recent form suggests that this will be a tough task.

Despite a stumble against GWS last weekend that saw them go down by 26, the Cats remain one of the league’s top sides for inside 50s and metres gained, and sit in 4th spot on the ladder with a win-loss record of 11-6.

Shannon Neale and Jeremy Cameron loom as key threats, while Bailey Smith is a strong chance for 30+ disposals in a midfield group that should bounce back strongly.

The Saints have dropped eight of their last nine games and are struggling to make an impact against top-half teams, with limited scoring options continuing to hurt them.

Max Hall has emerged with six goals in two weeks, and the likes of Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Jack Steele and Marcus Windhager will keep the Saints in the game but expect the home side to get the job done in the 1-39 point range.

  • Eight of St Kilda’s past nine matches have been decided by 39.5 points or less
  • The Saints have not won at the venue since 1999
  • Bailey Smith has had 30+ disposals in six of his past eight matches
  • Marcus Windhager had 36 disposals last weekend and had 25 the last time the two sides met

Head to Head

St Kilda have won the past two matches between the two sides and were seven point winners at Marvel Stadium in Round 2 this season. But the Cats have won the past 12 at GMHBA Stadium, a sequence that stretches back to 1999. Seven of the past eight matches between the two sides have been decided by between 1-39 points.

St Kilda’s Jack Sinclair has averaged 30 disposals from his past three matches against the Cats. Jack Higgins has kicked nine goals from his past four. Jack Macrae had 35 disposals in the Round 2 match this season. Bailey Smith did not play for the Cats.

Geelong won five matches in a row from Round 10 to 14 but have since lost two of their past three. They were inaccurate when rolled at this venue by Brisbane back in Round 15 by 41 points then were too good for Richmond, prior to their loss to GWS. At GMHBA in 2025, the Cats are five from seven.

The Cats have kicked over 100 points in six of their past nine games. Shannon Neale booted five goals in the loss to GWS. Jeremy Cameron booted just one goal but has 33 from his past eight.

Chris Scott's lacked efficiency going forward last weekend and were beaten at the clearances by the Giants. But they rank 5th for disposals, 2nd for metres gained and top the competition for inside 50s in the past five rounds.

Bailey Smith had 26 disposals against the Giants, his lowest haul since Round 2. He has had 30+ in six of his past eight matches. Tom Stewart had 29 against GWS, his best return in what has been an injury-interrupted season.

St Kilda have lost eight of their past nine matches. Eight of their past nine matches have been decided by 39.5 points or less. St Kilda are 2-9 against sides in the top half of the ladder this season.

They have found it hard to consistently pressure their opposition when heading forward, ranking 17th for inside 50s in the past five rounds and 14th for goals. They have lacked a tall focal point up forward. Max Hall booted three goals last weekend and has booted six in his past two matches.

Marcus Windhager had 36 disposals against the Swans. Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera picked up 24 disposals, well down on his massive effort of 43 the week prior. He has hit the 25+ in all but two of his matches this season.
