A fiery derby was just what the Swans needed with their stars like Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney having their best match of the season and lifting them past GWS. To be honest, I’m not sure if there is a good gauge on what Essendon are at the moment, however, their recent scare against North Melbourne 65-62 would suggest that they are not as good as their 4-3 record would suggest.

The Essendon schedule has been kind and when it hasn’t been they have been blown out of the water, despite a shock win against Port which is why there is a haze over who they are in 2025.

All that is clear is that Essendon are certainly struggling to kick goals, scoring an average of just 69 points over the last three weeks, which included games against the Kangaroos and Eagles where other have put up Twenty20 scores.
