Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina will meet for the fifth time in 2025 during the WTA Finals in Riyadh. Swiatek has dominated their head-to-head encounters this year, winning all previous matches. She arrives with strong momentum, highlighted by an emphatic victory over Madison Keys. Rybakina, though consistently excellent this season, faces a challenging contest given Swiatek’s recent form and past results. As both players bring significant momentum to the finals, the match is anticipated to be a highlight of the tournament.

Although Rybakina has enjoyed success on multiple occasions in the past against Swiatek, that's simply not been the case in 2025 - the Pole has won all four previous meetings this season and after a thunderous opening performance at the WTA Finals, she will be confident in extending that streak in Riyadh. Swiatek dropped just three games against Madison Keys as she looks to win her second season-ending championship following her triumph in Cancun in 2023.

Rybakina also registered a dominant opening victory in Riyadh, easing past Amanda Anisimova in straight sets. The Kazakh was the last player to qualify for the WTA Finals, but that means she has built up a lot of momentum over the last month, with consistently strong results in Asia propelling her into the year-end championships. Rybakina obviously has the game and weapons to hurt Swiatek, but their H2H record this year can't be ignored. Swiatek has Rybakina's number at the moment - backing the second seed to edge this.

Head To Head

Swiatek leads 6-4 overall, including winning all four encounters in 2025 at the United Cup, Doha, Roland Garros and Cincinnati. Three of those victories were on hardcourt and came in straight sets.

Iga Swiatek Form

Swiatek heads into this contest with a 62-15 record on the season, winning more matches than anyone else on tour.

The Pole has won 60+ matches for the fourth year in a row, becoming the first player to achieve that milestone since 2001.

It's been a struggle at times this year though - Swiatek endured a 13-month period without a title, but surged back into form at Wimbledon, while she also picked up titles at Cincinnati and Seoul in the second half of 2025.

Swiatek was in a ruthless mood in her opening WTA Finals match, completely demolishing Madison Keys by a 6-1 6-2 score, winning 58 of the 87 points.

The 24-year-old won the WTA Finals in 2023 when the event was held in Cancun, but was eliminated in the group stage in Riyadh last year.

Elena Rybakina Form

Rybakina has registered a 55-19 record on the season, consistently going deep in tournaments and securing her place at the WTA Finals during the closing stages of the year in Asia.

Although there's been an absence of a truly big title, Rybakina has been ultra-consistent, making eight semi-finals and claiming two titles in Strasbourgh and Ningbo.

The Kazakh has only lost her opening match once throughout 2025 and hit form again on hardcourt to end the season, winning 24 matches since July - with six of those coming against top 10 players.

Rybakina opened her WTA Finals campaign with a destructive performance, blitzing Amanda Anisimova 6-3 6-1 in just 57 minutes in the pair's first ever meeting.

The 26-year-old will be looking to make it out of the group stage for the first time in her third appearance at the season-ending championships.

Verdict

Swiatek has won all four meetings between the pair this season and has the edge going into this clash in Riyadh.

Rybakina has generated lots of momentum and should make this competitive, but Swiatek's dominance in this H2H throughout 2025 can't be ignored.
