Elena Rybakina will be aiming to make it through the group stage unbeaten when she squares off against the struggling Madison Keys at the WTA Finals in Riyadh on Wednesday.

It's been a brilliant end to the season for Rybakina and she's already secured her spot in the semi-finals, finishing top of the Group Serena Williams following her victories over Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek. Rybakina did something only one other player has done in 2025 and that's beat Swiatek after dropping the opening set. It was a destructive final two sets from Rybakina as she steamrolled Swiatek 6-1 6-0, announcing herself as a genuine contender for the title.

Meanwhile, Keys is currently on a four-match losing streak and hasn't won a match since August in Cincinnati. The American arrived in Riyadh underdone and it's shown in her performances - she's officially out of the running for a semi-final spot. Keys hasn't beaten a top 10 player since her run to the Australian Open title in January, while Rybakina is playing her best tennis of the season, winning her last four outings against top 10 opponents. Rybakina in straights is the most likely outcome here.

Currently locked at 3-3 and 1-1 in 2025. Keys was a 6-3 1-6 6-3 winner on her way to the Australian Open silverware, while Rybakina turned the tables with a 6-7 6-4 6-2 victory in Cincinnati.

Rybakina comes into this contest with a 56-19 record on the season and looking to end the year with a bang.

It has been a consistent season for Rybakina throughout 2025 - she's made nine semi-finals and picked up titles in Strasbourg and Ningbo, but there's certainly been a distinct lack of a big title or standout performance.

However, that's all starting to change over the last month. Rybakina is currently on an eight-match winning streak, securing her WTA Finals spot with that aforementioned title in Ningbo and reaching the Tokyo semi-finals, where she subsequently withdrew.

The Kazakh opened her WTA Finals campaign with a blistering 6-3 6-1 dispatch of Amanda Anisimova before producing a thunderous display to crush Iga Swiatek, recovering from dropping the opening set to prevail 3-6 6-1 6-0.

Rybakina has now won seven of her last nine matches against top 10 players and is into the semi-finals of the season-ending championships for the first time.

Madison Keys Form

Keys heads into this clash with a 37-15 record on the season, but is already eliminated from the WTA Finals after a tough end to the year.

It was a brilliant start to the season for Keys - she put together a 16-match winning streak that yielded titles in Adelaide and more importantly, her maiden major crown at the Australian Open.

However, the American hasn't really made an impact for the remainder of the year - she hasn't beaten a fellow top 10 player since January and is currently on a four-match losing streak.

Keys hadn't played since a first round US Open exit to Renata Zarazua and it's showed at the WTA Finals - her first appearance at the season-ending tournament in nine years.

The 30-year-old was demolished 6-1 6-2 by Swiatek in her opening match before going down 4-6 6-3 6-2 against Anisimova.
