Felix Auger-Aliassime is set to face Alexei Popyrin in the first round of the ATP Rotterdam. Auger-Aliassime, having won the most indoor matches this decade and an eighth indoor title at Montpellier, is the strong favorite against Popyrin, who has lost his last nine matches. Despite Popyrin's two wins over Auger-Aliassime in 2023, his current form suggests a tough challenge ahead. Auger-Aliassime's serve could be decisive, and while a tiebreak is expected, the Canadian is tipped to win with over 21.5 games.

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Alexei Popyrin Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Alexei Popyrin's lengthy losing run is likely to continue as the Aussie comes up against indoors beast Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round of Rotterdam on Wednesday night.

Popyrin hasn't won a match since last year's US Open, coming into this clash on the back of nine consecutive defeats. He even dropped down to Challenger level in a bid to restore some confidence, but ended up losing in straight sets to No. 142 Ugo Blanchet. Now, Popyrin must deal with a man who has won the most indoor matches out of any player this decade. It's not looking good.

Auger-Aliassime is coming off his eighth career indoors title in Montpellier last week and looks good to continue his fine form this week in Rotterdam. The Canadian has won 89 matches in these conditions since the start of 2020, while his only defeats overall in completed matches since the Canada Masters last July have come against Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Arthur Rinderknech and Zizou Bergs.

It's unlikely Popyrin adds his name to that list, but who knows - the Aussie has nothing to lose, he can free the shoulders, swing freely and see what happens. I am keen to back at least one tiebreak, which tends to be the case in Felix indoor matches, along with taking the Canadian to prevail with Over 21.5 games.
  • Auger-Aliassime has seen at least one tiebreak in seven of his last 10 indoors matches
  • Auger-Aliassime has won 27 of his last 33 completed matches
  • Popyrin has seen at least one tiebreak in his last three matches
  • Popyrin has won both previous meetings with Auger-Aliassime, with each going over 23.5 games
  • Auger-Aliassime has won 89 indoor matches this decade, the most of any player

Felix Auger-Aliassime Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 5-2
  • ATP Rotterdam Record: 12-6
  • Current ATP Ranking: No. 6
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 5 (Nov 2025)

It was a difficult start to 2026 for Auger-Aliassime as he lost to Zizou Bergs in the United Cup and was then forced to retire in the opening round of the Australian Open against Nuno Borges due to cramps after just three sets.

Auger-Aliassime returned to action last week in Montpellier and it was back to regular scheduled programming, with the Canadian reaffirming himself as one of the tour's best indoor players.

The 25-year-old dropped just one set on his way to an eighth ATP indoors title, beating Stan Wawrinka and Arthur Fils, along with tricky veteran Adrian Mannarino in the final.

“Adrian is always a very tough opponent to play, for all players, I think," Auger-Aliassime said after the match.
"That’s why myself and all our peers on Tour have so much respect for him and the challenge he poses on the court. I knew it was going to be a tough match today, so I’m very happy. It’s amazing emotions to win again here. I’m thrilled with my whole week and especially today.”

Auger-Aliassime won 39/45 points behind his huge first serve in the final, along with firing 13 aces.

The Canadian will now look to keep the wins coming in Rotterdam, where he won the title in 2022 and was also a finalist in 2020.

Alexei Popyrin Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 0-3
  • ATP Rotterdam Record: 0-2
  • Current ATP Ranking: No. 50
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 19 (August 2025)

It's been a hugely disappointing fall from grace for Popyrin - after winning his maiden Masters 1000 title in 2024, he cracked the top 20 last year and was on target to take his game to the next level.

However, the Aussie has gone backwards and instead he's dropped to No. 50 in the world and lost his last nine matches dating back to last year's US Open.

Popyrin lost in the first rounds of Brisbane, Adelaide and the Australian Open to Quentin Halys, Reilly Opelka and Alexandre Muller respectively - all very beatable opponents. The 26-year-old then went down in the first round of the Manama Challenger in Bahrain to Ugo Blanchet 6-3 7-6.

Having never previous won a main draw match in Rotterdam, the odds are certainly stacked against Popyrin here.
