Casper Ruud clashes with Raphael Collignon in the Geneva Open second round, with both players experiencing taxing weeks. Ruud, who was runner-up at the Rome Masters and is a three-time Geneva champion, faces a resurgent Collignon, recently successful at Challenger level but still managing fitness concerns. Notably, Collignon defeated Ruud in their only previous encounter. With both eyeing Roland Garros, fatigue could affect performance. The best wager is under 22.5 total games, with a small stake suggested on a possible Collignon upset if he can manage his injury issues.

Casper Ruud vs Raphael Collignon Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Casper Ruud continues his pursuit of a record-extending fourth Geneva Open title when he comes up against Raphael Collignon in the second round on Wednesday.

Both of these players come into this second round Geneva showdown after big physical efforts last week. Ruud of course advanced all the way to the Rome Masters final and played a good match in going down 6-4 6-4 to the all-conquering Jannik Sinner.

Meanwhile, Collignon also went the distance at the strong Bordeaux Challenger, going down in a final set tiebreak to Juan Manuel Cerundolo. With Roland Garros just around the corner, you've got to wonder how important going deep again in Geneva is. If both players want to make the second week of the French Open, then that's basically four straight weeks of tennis if they keep winning this tournament.

It's tough to come up with the right angle. I've been a huge fan of Collignon since the end of last year and tipped him to crack the top 30 in 2026 - however, he keeps getting these little injury niggles and he's only played five tour-level tournaments for the year. Ruud has been supremely dominant at this event, but he harbours real ambitions of a deep run at Roland Garros - just how much more energy does he want to spend?

With possible fatigue in mind, I'm going to take Under 22.5 games as the best bet - whoever loses the first set could throw in the towel in the second. Collignon beat Ruud in their only previous meeting and has a winning record over top 20 players - small stake on the Belgian going crazy with another big performance to land the upset, but also weary of his injury problems and potential to fade physically here.
  • Collignon has a 4-2 record vs top 20 players
  • Collignon has a 7-4 record at tour-level this season
  • Collignon has won 19 of his last 23 matches at all levels
  • Ruud has a 14-1 record in Geneva
  • Ruud has won nine of his last 11 matches
  • Ruud has seen Under 22.5 games in seven of his last eight matches
  • Collignon has seen Under 22.5 games in eight of his last 11 matches

Casper Ruud Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 17-10
  • ATP Geneva Record: 14-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 17
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 2 (2022)

Ruud endured a quiet opening to the season, struggling to generate momentum across the first few months. His only quarter-final appearance came in Delray Beach and even that run required minimal match play, underlining a lack of consistency early on.

There were understandable reasons behind the slow start. The birth of his first child brought a shift in focus, while an injury in Monte Carlo forced him to retire mid-tournament and interrupted any chance of building rhythm.

Since then, Ruud has gradually rediscovered his level. A quarter-final showing in Madrid hinted at a turnaround and he backed it up with some brilliant tennis to reach the Rome Masters final last week.

Ruud conquered four higher-ranked players on his way to the final in Lorenzo Musetti, Karen Khachanov, Jiri Lehecka and Luciano Darderi before going down 6-4 6-4 to Sinner.

With a quick turnaround in Geneva, Ruud maintained his high level, hitting 21 winners to 12 unforced errors in a 6-3 7-5 victory over Jenson Brooksby.

“This stretch of tournaments is quite a lot but they are nice tournaments and I like playing here. I like playing on clay. I try to use the clay season the most I can and every time I come to Geneva I have a good result at Roland Garros, so let’s hope to keep that tradition going,” Ruud said post-match.

Raphael Collignon Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 7-4
  • ATP Geneva Record: 1-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 64
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 59 (February 2026)

It's been a slightly strange old season for Collignon - he's only managed to play two events at tour-level since the Australian Open, but he's also had success at Challenger level.

Collignon is quite clearly too good for Challenger level, but he's played in the strong clay events over the last month, winning the title in Monza and reaching the final in Bordeaux last week.

The 24-year-old has been dealing with a wrist injury, which forced him out of Madrid and Rome - but he seems fully recovered after a big week in Bordeaux and now backing it up in Geneva.

The Belgian had a favourable opening draw against veteran Adrian Mannarino, who absolutely despises clay, with Collignon coming through 6-3 7-6(5).

Collignon now gets another chance to improve his great 4-2 record over top 20 players, which includes victories over Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Flavio Cobolli.
