Alexander Bublik vs Quentin Halys ATP Gstaad Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 11 Alexander Bublik launches his Swiss Open title defence when he comes up against Quentin Halys in the second round of Gstaad on Thursday.

Bublik was in career-best form when he took home the silverware in Gstaad last year, which formed part of an 11-match winning streak and was on the back of reaching a Roland Garros quarter-final.

The Kazakh thrives in the altitude conditions and he will be hoping to double down in the Swiss mountains this week.

However, Bublik's form has certainly tailed off over the last couple of months - he has an average 7-6 record vs players outside the top 50 dating back to the start of March, while he's lost at least one set in eight of his last 10 outings.

Which makes me like Halys to win at least a set here. The Frenchman is better than his ranking of No. 90 suggests and he's also enjoyed success in Gstaad, finishing runner-up 2024 to Matteo Berrettini.

Halys also took a set off Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open and Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros earlier this year, so his best tennis can trouble the elite players.

Bublik hasn't been convincing at all lately and he's got the pressure of defending his title and 250 ranking points - I'm going to take a punt on Halys for the upset here.
  • Bublik has lost six of his last 13 matches vs players outside the top 50
  • Bublik has lost 1+ set in eight of his last 10 matches
  • Halys has won a set in two of his five matches vs top 20 players in 2026, forcing 1+ tiebreak in the other three
  • Halys has won five of his six matches in Gstaad

Bublik vs Halys Head To Head

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Alexander Bublik Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 23-15
  • ATP Gstaad Record: 4-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 11
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 10 (Jan 2026)

Bublik has done a solid job of maintaining a ranking around the top 10 all year along, backing up his consistent breakout from last year.

However, Bublik is set to defend lots of points over the next couple of months, so we will see how his level is under pressure.

The Kazakh hasn't really hit the heights of last season, but there's still been some decent results, including winning the title in Hong Kong, reaching the semi-finals in Geneva and Stuttgart and R16 finishes at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Two of Bublik's three defeats on grass this year came against Taylor Fritz in Stuttgart and Wimbledon. He now returns to Gstaad, where he surged to the title for the loss of just one set last year.

Quentin Halys Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 13-13
  • ATP Gstaad Record: 5-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 90
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 46 (2025)

Halys' results in 2026 have been better than his current ranking of No. 90 suggests.

The Frenchman made the R16 of the Miami Masters and quarter-finals of Eastbourne, while he also reached the third round of Roland Garros, where he took a set off eventual champion Zverev.

Halys also snatched a set off Medvedev in the Australian Open second round and got a good win over Matteo Arnaldi at Wimbledon.

The 29-year-old has fond memories of Gstaad after making the final two years ago and he returned to winning ways in the Swiss mountains, edging out Italian youngster Federico Cina 6-3 3-6 7-6(6) in his opening round.

Bublik under a bit of pressure here and not in the best of form - good chance for Halys to claim an upset.
