Alexander Bublik faces Learner Tien in the Geneva Open semi-final, their second meeting in 11 days after Tien's close win in Rome. Both players are showing strong form, with Tien quickly adapting to clay and already defeating top players like Tsitsipas. While Bublik has a solid clay record, consistency has been an issue recently. Tien is backed for a second straight win over Bublik in a tightly contested match expected to go beyond 22.5 games. Alexander Bublik vs Learner Tien Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Second seed Alexander Bublik and rising star Learner Tien clash for the second time in just 11 days when the pair square off in the Geneva Open semi-finals on Friday.

It's a rematch from the pair's third round clash in Rome last week, which Tien edged out in a close three-setter. The American had barely won matches on European clay heading into that tournament, but he's a quick learner (pun not intended) and already looks at home on the Geneva dirt, registering good wins over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex Michelsen to reach the final four.

Bublik meanwhile has also improved considerably on clay over the last 12 months or so, going 17-5 on the surface since Roland Garros last year.

However, Bublik's overall consistency has taken a dip over the last few months - indeed, this is just the second tournament since Rotterdam in early February where he's managed back-to-back victories.

Both players have great semi-final records and if their Rome match is any indication, this should be a tightly fought contest. Tien has the counter-punching and grinding game that can frustrate the hell out of Bublik, especially on slower surfaces. Tien has also proven he can hang with the game's elite - backing him in for a seventh top 10 scalp in a match that exceeds 22.5 total games.
  • Tien has seen Over 22.5 games in 12 of his last 17 matches
  • Tien has a 4-1 record in semi-final matches
  • Tien has a 6-6 record vs top 10 players
  • Bublik has seen Over 22.5 games in two of his last three matches
  • Bublik has a 7-11 record vs top 20 players on clay
  • Tien has seen Over 22.5 games in all three previous Geneva matches

Bublik vs Tien Head To Head

Tien leads 1-0, edging out a close three-setter in Rome last week.

Alexander Bublik Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 18-10
  • ATP Geneva Record: 2-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 10
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 10 (January 2026)

Bublik showcased some new-found consistency throughout the second half of 2025 to gradually propel himself towards the top 10 - a mark he eventually cracked at the start of this season after winning the title in Hong Kong and reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open.

However, after a semi-final run in Rotterdam, Bublik's form has tailed off, going an average 7-7 since.

The Kazakh made the quarter-finals in Monte Carlo, but suffered early exits in Munich, Madrid and Rome - the latter to his opponent in this Geneva semi-final.

Bublik has benefitted from a favourable draw in Geneva, where the altitude helps with his big serve. The 28-year-old took out qualifier Edas Butvilas 6-4 6-3 before coming from a set down to topple Arthur Rinderknech 5-7 6-4 6-2.

Learner Tien Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 15-9
  • ATP Geneva Record: 2-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 20
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 20 (May 2026)

It's been a superb rise for Tien, who is currently the youngest player inside the top 20.

The 20-year-old had a great start to the year on hardcourt, reaching his first Grand Slam quarter-final at the Australian Open, backing it up with a semi-final in Delray Beach and quarter-final at Indian Wells.

Tien's form dipped slightly with early exits across Miami, Houston and Madrid, but he bounced back with a nice R16 run on the clay of Rome, defeating Bublik along the way.

The American continues to improve on the dirt, taking out former Roland Garros finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(4) 7-6(2) in his Geneva opener before earning a first tour-level win over childhood friend Alex Michelsen 6-4 3-6 6-1 to reach the semi-finals.
