It's set to be another big battle for Alexander Bublik, but the defending champion is tipped to edge out a plucky Facundo Diaz Acosta to return to the Generali Open quarter-finals in Kitzbuhel on Wednesday.
Bublik surged to the Kitzbuhel title last year without dropping a set. It was part of an 11-match winning streak, which ultimately helped propelled Bublik into the top 10 following a series of impressive results.
The Kazakh remains at No. 11 in the world, but there's no doubt his form has dipped over the last few months or so. Indeed, Bublik has a 7-7 record against players outside the top 50 since March, so he's certainly not playing like someone on the cusp of the top 10.
I tipped Quentin Halys to upset Bublik where he was again the defending champion in Gstaad last week - but can Diaz Acosta add to the top seed's woes in Kitzbuhel?
I think the Argentine can at least win a set and push this Over the 23.5 total. However, the Argentine had only won one match at tour-level before this tournament and that's a bit concerning.
While Bublik has struggled against players outside the top 50, he has gone 5-2 vs players outside the top 100. Not great, but certainly better.
I'm not totally confident in Bublik, but he's had a week to prepare in Kitzbuhel and the altitude certainly helps his big serve and flat groundstrokes. I'll take the defending champion in three.

The Kazakh had improved his consistency, focus and overall mentality considerably over the last 12 months, but he's slowly slipping back into some old habits and it's showing in his results.
Bublik had a solid Wimbledon in reaching the fourth round, but he was bundled out at the first time of asking in Gstaad last week by Halys, losing in a deciding set tiebreak, 6-7(4) 6-4 7-6(5).
The 29-year-old is again attempting to defend a title in Kitzbuhel this week after he reigned supreme without dropping a single set in his four matches last year.

Diaz Acosta won his maiden ATP title in Buenos Aires in 2024, but his form has tailed off over the last couple of years and he's currently outside the top 100.
However, the Argentine has done a tremendous job of rebuilding his ranking after falling outside the top 300 at the start of the year.
Indeed, Diaz Acosta has won a whopping four Challenger titles and also made the final of another, compiling a 34-10 record at that level across the season.
Diaz Acosta stepped back up to tour-level by qualifying for Roland Garros and making the second round, while he's registered his second tour-level victory of 2026 here in Kitzbuhel, outlasting youngster Federico Cina 4-6 6-3 6-4.
The 25-year-old was a semi-finalist in Kitzbuhel in 2024 and this is a good opportunity for him to improve on a 0-4 record vs top 20 players.
