Alex de Minaur vs Hamad Medjedovic Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Demon targets second win over Medjedovic this year

Alex de Minaur aims for a fourth quarter-final appearance at the Barcelona Open, facing the volatile Hamad Medjedovic. In their previous Australian Open bout, Medjedovic started strong but faltered, allowing De Minaur to clinch victory. This dynamic could repeat as De Minaur, despite recent inconsistent performances, holds the upper hand with strong clay stats. Medjedovic's endurance is questionable, having played numerous hard-fought matches recently. The prediction leans towards De Minaur overcoming a possible first-set loss to ultimately win. Alex de Minaur vs Hamad Medjedovic Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Alex de Minaur will be aiming to reach the Barcelona Open quarter-finals for the fourth time when he comes up against the dangerous, but wildly erratic Hamad Medjedovic on Wednesday.

It will be a rematch of their second round Australian Open showdown at the start of the year, where Medjedovic exploded out of the blocks with some spectacular tennis before his lack of fitness and endurance kicked in, with De Minaur going on to win the next three sets easily after dropping the opener.

I'm keen to back a similar sort of contest here at big value. De Minaur's level has certainly dropped over the last couple of months and he needed to save a set point against Sebastian Ofner in his Barcelona opener - a hard-hitting qualifier with a similar sort of game style to Medjedovic. We can get odds of $6.50 for de Minaur to lose the first set and win the match, just like he did in Melbourne.

Medjedovic has come through three gruelling matches already in Barcelona and has played lots of tennis lately, winning eight of his last nine matches at all levels. Given his history with poor endurance, I just can't see him sustaining a high enough level throughout the course of a two or three-hour match - but it wouldn't be surprising to see him catch fire for a period and win a set. Over 22.5 games is the main play, with value on a comeback win for the Demon.
  • De Minaur is 20-4 in his last 24 matches vs players ranked outside the top 20 on clay (four defeats vs Nadal, Vacherot, Bublik & Fils)
  • De Minaur is 3-2 in Barcelona second round matches
  • De Minaur has won 17 of his last 24 matches on clay
  • De Minaur has seen Over 22.5 games in seven of his last eight matches
  • Medjedovic has seen Over 22.5 games in three of his four matches
  • Medjedovic has a 1-6 record vs top 10 players

De Minaur vs Medjedovic Head To Head

De Minaur leads 1-0, withstanding an early storm from Medjedovic before prevailing comfortably in four sets at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Alex de Minaur Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 15-6
  • ATP Barcelona Record: 9-5
  • Current Ranking: No. 6
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 6 (2024)

De Minaur finished last season in excellent form, highlighted by a semi-final run at the ATP Finals and a career-best return of 60 tour-level victories.

The Australian carried that momentum into the new campaign, reaching yet another Australian Open quarter-final before capturing the ATP 500 title in Rotterdam.

Since then, however, his level has dipped noticeably, managing just three wins across Acapulco, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo, with losses to Patrick Kypson, Cameron Norrie, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Valentin Vacherot.

De Minaur managed to steady the ship somewhat in his Barcelona opener, but he was once again pushed to his limits against qualifier Sebastian Ofner, forced to save a set point in the opener before closing out a narrow 7-6 6-4 victory.

Hamad Medjedovic Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 4-5
  • ATP Barcelona Record: 2-1
  • Current Ranking: No. 88
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 57 (Aug 2025)

Medjedovic has the talent to be a top 30 players or better, but his constant physical struggles and lack of endurance means he struggles with consistency and putting together back-to-back successful weeks on the tour.

After an average start to the season, Medjedovic took a six-week break before returning at the strong Naples Challenger, where he went on to win the title with a win over Daniel Altmaier in the final.

However, once again, Medjedovic couldn't back it up, losing in the first round of his next tournament in Marrakech to Vit Kopriva.

The 22-year-old played well in Barcelona qualifying this past weekend to make the main draw, earning two hard-fought victories over Vilius Gaubas and Quentin Halys before outlasting Marco Trungelliti 7-5 6-4 in the first round.
