It's been a blistering start to the season for Brighton - they've scored a league-high 13 goals across their opening four EPL games, including a thumping 5-0 rout of Coventry this past weekend.

The Seagulls have won four of their last five trips to Old Trafford, including that aforementioned 2-1 elimination of United in last season's FA Cup.

United hit the woodwork twice through Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, while Bryan Mbeumo missed a sitter in stoppage time that would have earned the Red Devils a point.

In between, United took care of minnows Sabah in the Champions League, registering a comfortable 4-0 win.

United suffered a humiliating EFL Cup second round exit at the hands of fourth-tier Grimsby Town under the tutelage of Ruben Amorin last season and will be hoping to avoid another early exit here.

Matthijs de Ligt (back), Manuel Ugarte (knee), Amad Diallo (ankle), Tom Heaton (hamstring) and former Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba (ankle) are all sidelined with injury.

After moving past Tromso to secure their spot in the UEFA Conference League, Brighton launched their EPL campaign with a thumping 4-0 win over Aston Villa.

Gross has scored more goals against United than any other EPL side (seven) and will be looking to continue his good form here.

Georginio Rutter (ankle), Femi Azeez (thigh) and Michael Svoboda (knee) all missed the Coventry win and are in some doubt for this one. Evan Ferguson, Yankuba Minteh, Karou Mitoma, Stefanos Tzimas and Zadok Yohanna are also sidelined.
