Arguably the two in-form sides in the competition ahead of the finals, Melbourne City and Adelaide United look to keep their positive momentum going when they clash in the last game of the A-League regular season on Sunday at AAMI Park.

Adelaide are unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 games and will know by kick-off if they still have a chance to finish in second spot, with Auckland and Sydney FC squaring off earlier on Sunday.

Meanwhile, reigning premiers City have hit form at exactly the right moment, coming into this clash on a four-game winning streak.

Both sides will be determined to keep their good form going into the finals and I'm expecting a close contest. Adelaide have a fantastic record against City in recent times and look good value in the Double Chance market, while the majority of their recent fixtures have ended in a 1-1 draw.

City winger Marcus Younis is arguably the form player in the A-League and a late bolter for Socceroos World Cup selection - he can deliver another big performance here.

City come into this clash with a 10-8-7 record on the season and hitting some good form at the pointy end.

After struggling to juggle Asian Champions League football with domestic duties, City have regained some form over the last month to put their premiership defence back on charge.

Aurelio Vidmar's side have surged up to fifth spot on the ladder and will be hoping to secure a home elimination final.

After wins over the Mariners, Wanderers and Phoenix, City were forced to come from behind to conquer Brisbane 3-2 at Suncorp last week. Marcus Younis scored a double in five minutes to put City ahead in the second half before Mehdin Memeti sealed all three points.

Adelaide United Form Analysis

Adelaide head into this encounter with an 11-7-7 record on the season, surging up to third place on the ladder.

If only Adelaide could have secured all three points in a couple of their recent five draws and they'd be in the box seat to secure a top two finish.

The Reds can still claim second spot, but they would need to rely on Sydney beating Auckland and upsetting City on the road here.
