Wests Tigers vs Gold Coast Titans NRL Tips - Tigers to celebrate Leichhardt milestone with a win

The Wests Tigers aim to celebrate their 100th game at Leichhardt Oval with a win against the last-placed Gold Coast Titans in NRL Round 20. With the Tigers having only one victory since Round 9, they are keen to exploit the Titans' poor form—losing 12 out of 16 games this season. Low scores are expected, with recent head-to-heads totaling below 48.5 points. Key player Adam Doueihi is poised for a big game, offering significant value for try scorers. The Tigers, covering a -4.5 line, look set to win in a less thrilling but pivotal match.

A sunny afternoon at Leichhardt Oval should provide the perfect backdrop for the Tigers to pick up just their second win since Round 9. Gold Coast are in shambles, anchored to the bottom of the ladder having lost 12 of their 16 games this season and they have all but ran their race for 2025 heading into Round 20. The Tigers were victorious in their only other game at Leichhardt this season when they toppled the Sharks in Round 8 and they should be able to double down here, covering a -4.5 line in the process.

You'd be forgiven for thinking games between these teams would be high-scoring, but recent H2H totals of 18, 40, 32 & 14 points illustrate that's not the case. I'm not sure I can count on either side piling on the points here, so Under 48.5 is the play. Adam Doueihi also looks great value at $5.50 for a try - he crossed for a double last week in the loss to the Warriors and will likely have a license to roam at lock.

  • Titans have lost 12 of their 16 games this season
  • Titans have lost nine of their last 12 away games
  • Tigers won their only other game at Leichhardt this year in R8 vs Sharks
  • The last four meetings have seen 40 points or less
  • Titans have failed to cover a +4.5 line in all 12 of their defeats this season
  • Under 48.5 points has landed in four of the Tigers' last five games
  • Adam Doueihi scored two tries last week & has been one of the Tigers' best for the last month

Head To Head

The Tigers will be searching for back-to-back wins over the Titans for the first time since 2011-12 after winning the most-recent clash 18-10 in Round 15 last season. That game also took place at Leichhardt.

Wests Tigers Form Analysis

What started off as a season full of promise swiftly turned into another nightmare and the Tigers are now once again battling to avoid the wooden spoon, starting Round 20 just two points above the Titans on the ladder.

Two of the club's brightest young talents in Lachlan Galvin and Tallyn Da Silva felt they couldn't develop their games at the Tigers and decided to leave mid-season, stagnating the good recruitment done in the off-season by bringing the likes of Jarome Luai, Terrell May and Sunia Turuva to the joint-venture outfit.

It's been a disastrous last couple of months for the Tigers, who come into this fixture having lost seven of their last eight games - including a 34-14 defeat to the Warriors across the ditch last week.

Wests Tigers Team News

Taylan May has been named to make his Tigers debut in the centres after scoring a hat-trick in NSW Cup last week.

This means Adam Doueihi moves to lock, while Alex Seyfarth has been named in the back row after Samuela Fainu suffered an injury last week.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

It's been another dismal season for the Titans, with Des Hasler almost certain to be sacked as his club languishes at the bottom of the ladder going into Round 20.

Gold Coast sporadicly remind you that they have the talent to contest for a finals spot each season, but their defence is absolutely shocking and they simply don't have the consistency - for whatever reason - to compete with most sides in the competition.

The Titans have lost 11 of their last 13 games coming into this showdown, including three straight against the Eels, Cowboys and Broncos in which they've leaked 92 points.

Just the one positional change from the team that went down 26-14 to the Broncos last week, with captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui returning to the starting side and Jaimin Jolliffe dropping back to the interchange.

Verdict

It won't be the best game you'll watch in 2025, but the Tigers are backed to cover a -4.5 line in a low-scoring affair, celebrating their 100th game at Leichhardt with a win.

Adam Doueihi is great value to score a try after crossing for a double last week.
