- NSW Blues Women vs Queensland Maroons Women Player of the MatchPredictions
- Sienna Lofipo - QLD
- Ellie Johnston - NSW
The Player of the Match award is not always handed out to the woman who scores or creates, but is given to the player that has worked the hardest throughout the match.
In Game 1 the award went to NSW Prop Simaima Taufa who had 14 runs for 134 Run Metres which included 61 post Contact Metres. She also made 14 tackles in her 40 minutes on the park lending weight to the trend of true workhorses being rewarded for their efforts.
Based on stats from Game 1 there were players from both teams that had similar statlines to Taufa. Second rower Romy Teitzel from the Maroons and Taufa’s front row partner Ellie Johnston both put up amazing numbers with Johnston even crossing for a try late in the game.
- A Queenslander has won the award in 6 of the last 9 games, since 2020
- Only once in the past 6 games has a player from a losing team won Player of the Match.
- Only one player Tazmin Gray (QLD) has won the player of the Match award twice
- A forward has won the award in 6 of 9 games since 2020.
Bets.com.au has put together their picks for the Player of the Match Award for Game 2 of the 2025 Women’s Origin Series between New South Wales and Queensland.
Sienna Lofipo - QLD
Sienna Lofipo was one of the standouts in a losing side in Game 1. Playing the full 70 minutes, she made 37 tackles in the matchup, the most of any player on the park while also having 7 runs for 57 metres.
Lofipo and fellow second rower Romy Teitzel are top contenders if QLD win Game 2.

Ellie Johnston - NSW
Some would say Johnston was unlucky to not receive the award in Game 1 with a try off 9 runs averaging over 10m per go with 41 post contact metres. She had 4 tackle breaks while also making 16 tackles over two stints of 39 minutes of game time.
With Johnston looking to cement her spot in the team she will be difficult to stop in Game 2.
