Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters NRL Tips - Roosters to make it four wins on the bounce

The Sydney Roosters face off against the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium in NRL Round 25. Heading into the match, the Roosters are on a strong three-game winning streak, bolstered by halfback Sam Walker and several key players. Despite the absence of Daniel Tupou due to concussion, they pose a formidable challenge for the Eels, who have struggled in recent games. With strategic advantages in head-to-head history and form, the Roosters are predicted to win, with Billy Smith a key player to watch.

Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters, NRL Round 25 - Expert Prediction

The Roosters will be looking to take another big step towards the finals when they come up against the lowly Eels at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night.

Timing is everything in Rugby League and the Roosters might just be timing their run perfectly. After losing four of their opening five games of the season, most people put a line through the Chooks. However, aided by the return of halfback Sam Walker and the stunning aerial dominance of Daniel Tupou, the Roosters come into this clash on a three-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents in that stretch by 116-26. Tupou is sidelined for this game with concussion, but I'm still confident Trent Robinson's side will be far too strong for a Eels side with little to play for here.

The Roosters have won 10 of the last 12 meetings between the teams, covering a -9.5 line in eight of those victories, while the Eels haven't been firing in attack lately, so they could struggle to eclipse their team total line of 18.5 here. I also like the centre matchup for Billy Smith against the out-of-position Dylan Brown, who looked suspect in defence last week.

  • Roosters have won their last three games
  • Roosters have scored 116 points & conceded just 26 in that span
  • Eels have been held Under 18.5 points in four of their last six games
  • Eels have been held Under 18.5 points in their last three games vs Roosters
  • Roosters have won 10 of their last 12 games vs Eels
  • Roosters have covered a -9.5 line in eight of those wins
  • Eels are 1-9 vs top eight opposition in 2025
  • Billy Smith has scored five tries in his last six games

Head To Head

The Roosters have dominated this matchup in recent times, winning six of the last seven encounters - including 28-18 and 38-14 victories in 2024.

Parramatta Eels Form Analysis

The Eels haven't stopped competing all season, but the reality is their fate rests on the fitness of halfback Mitch Moses and he simply hasn't played enough games for the team to challenge for the finals.

To be fair, take a Origin halfback out of most sides and they'd most likely be languishing at the wrong end of the ladder too.

Parramatta looked to be building with an impressive win over the Broncos and pushing the Storm all the way in a tight defeat, but they've been average over their last two games, barely beating the Cowboys at home (19-18) before going down by four points to the Rabbitohs last week.

Parramatta Eels Team News

Luca Moretti is out for the rest of the season with a calf injury. Dylan Walker starts at lock and Jordan Samrani joins the bench.

Sydney Roosters Form Analysis

The Roosters are one of the form teams in the competition heading into this contest and another win here could see them branded as genuine smokeys for the competition. It's the first season in a long time with no clear or standout dominant team, so why can't the Chooks come from outside the top four and go all the way?

Trent Robinson has delivered a coaching masterclass this season after his side were all over the place in losing four of their first five games of the year - including leaking 50 points in R1 vs Brisbane.

With their season on the line, the Roosters have stepped up to beat Manly (20-4) and the Dolphins (a 64-12 demolition job) before last week's brilliant 32-12 victory over top four side Canterbury.

Daniel Tupou continued his blistering form by scoring a hat-trick as Sam Walker ran the show - perhaps with a point to prove if one veteran halfback does indeed make the move to Bondi next year...

Sydney Roosters Team News

Junior Tupou makes his club debut for the Roosters on the wing, with Daniel Tupou suffering concussion symptoms from last week.

Siua Wong returns from a concussion, so Naufahu Whyte moves to prop, Spencer Leniu goes to the bench and Blake Steep drops out.

Verdict

The Roosters are in great form and have everything to play for, while the Eels have been average over the last couple of weeks and don't really have much on the line here.

Will back the Roosters at a -9.5 line, the Eels to score Under 18.5 team points and Billy Smith to score a meat pie.
