In NRL Round 25, the Warriors face off against the Titans, aiming to strengthen their top-four position. Despite a rocky season, with only three wins since Round 14, the Warriors' recent victory over the Dragons could boost their confidence. Conversely, the Titans have struggled, losing seven of their last eight games, and face challenges in defense. Key players return for both sides, adding intrigue to the match. The Warriors are favored to win with a -2.5 line and under 48.5 total points. Phil Sami's form for the Titans is a highlight.

Gold Coast Titans vs New Zealand Warriors, NRL Round 25 - Expert Prediction

The Warriors will be aiming to cement their tentative top four status for another week when they face the last-placed Titans in the second game on Super Saturday at Cbus Stadium.

After surging out of the blocks, the Warriors' season has hit a significant road block, with the team winning just three games since Round 14, struggling considerably without the services of star halfback Luke Metcalf. The Warriors were on a three-game losing streak before returning to the winners circle with a gritty 14-10 triumph over the in-form Dragons last week - and that result should give them the boost and confidence they need to overturn a poor recent record against the Titans.

Indeed, Gold Coast have won the last three and six of the last seven meetings overall - including a 24-16 victory across the ditch in Round 21 a few weeks ago. However, I just can't back the Titans, despite the home ground advantage and dominant recent H2H. Their abysmal defence was again exposed in a horrendous showing against the Sharks last week in which they leaked 54 points - the fifth time in 2025 that they've conceded 40+.

Take the Warriors at a small -2.5 line and I'm actually going to back Under 48.5 total points, which has landed in the Kiwi club's last eight outings. Phil Sami is arguably in career-best form on the wing for Gold Coast and can cross for another four-pointer.

  • Titans have lost seven of their last eight games
  • Warriors have won 11 of their last 13 games vs current bottom nine teams
  • Warriors have seen Under 48.5 points in their last eight games
  • Titans have seen Under 48.5 points in four of their last six games
  • Phil Sami has scored six tries in his last four games & crossed for a double vs Warriors in R21

Head To Head

The Titans have won six of the last seven games between the teams, including a 24-16 victory in Round 21 at Go Media Stadium, with Sami scoring two tries and running for 256 metres.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

Is the Titans' mini late-season resurgence over? Probably. Are they now destined for a third wooden spoon? Probably.

Gold Coast were looking good to haul themselves from the foot of the ladder after beating the Warriors in Round 21 and pushing the Panthers all the way in a golden point defeat the following week.

However, that was as good as it got for Titans' fans - they were then beaten 20-18 at home by a Souths side missing more than half of their salary cap through injury, while they were pummelled 54-22 by the Sharks last week.

The floodgates opened in defence for the Titans in that game and that's a sign they've tapped out for 2025 - it would be a big surprise if they won another game in the last few rounds.

New Zealand Warriors Form Analysis

If we're being honest, right now basically every team in finals contention would be hoping to draw the Warriors in the opening week.

Putting it simply, the Warriors aren't the team that won eight of their opening 10 games of the season to surge into the top four.

The Warriors are fighting bravely to cling onto that fourth spot, but the Panthers, Broncos and Sharks are knocking on the door.

With just three wins since Round 14, the Warriors don't have the form line of a top eight side, let along a team hoping to get a double chance in the finals.

One of those wins came last week at home against the Dragons, with the Warriors digging deep to hold their opponents scoreless for the final 60 minutes of the game, with Adam Pompey's double helping his side grind out a 14-10 victory.

New Zealand Warriors Team News

Three big inclusions for the Warriors this week, with Kurt Capewell (concussion), Te Maire Martin (concussion) and Rocco Berry (shoulder) all returning.

Jackson Ford is suspended until the finals, so Demitric Vaimauga starts at prop.

Verdict

If the Warriors are serious about being a threat in the finals, then this is a simply must-win game.

Will back the Warriors to cover a -2.5 line with Under 48.5 total points. Phil Sami is in brilliant try-scoring form on the wing and will be dangerous again here.
