South Sydney Rabbitohs vs St George Illawarra Dragons NRL Round 25 Tips - Bunnies bounce to third straight win
The upcoming NRL Round 25 match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the St George Illawarra Dragons is expected to be a low-scoring affair with both teams facing injury challenges. The Rabbitohs have shown recent defensive improvements and have a strong record against the Dragons, winning 8 of their last 11 meetings. Despite the Dragons' formidable recent performances, their mounting injuries could give the Rabbitohs an edge. In this game, betting on the under total points seems wise, as both teams focus on amplifying their defensive strength.

Rabbitohs vs Dragons Rd. 25 Cheat Sheet
There will be no blockbuster on Thursday night with NRL fans having to wait for an epic double-header on Friday before feeling any finals buzz. However, there is money to be made on the duds as well and the big pick in this match will be the under on the game total.
Both the Rabbits and the Dragons are struggling with injury as they close out their 2025 seasons which should see two lacklustre attacking sides going up against two improving defensive units. The Bunnies and the Dragons are in a good defensive patch both conceding 14 points or less in their last 2 games. That, compiled with strong records to the under makes this the pick of the game.
The Rabbits have gotten a couple of their troops back this week and have a strong record against the Dragons, so I am picking the Bunnies in a match that the bookies can’t split and taking the value of the 1.5-point handicap.
Tries can come from anywhere here with new combinations on both sides of the field. We like to ride tryscoring trends and Mat Feagai has crossed the line 4 times in the last 3 games since returning to the centres after being out of the side since Round 7.
- South Sydney have won 8 of the last 11 matches against St George.
- South Sydney have conceded an average of 17 points in their last 2 matches.
- 17 of 22 South Sydney matches have hit the under the game total this season.
- 3 of the last 4 St George matches have hit under the game total.
- Mat Feagai has scored in 4 tries in his last 3 matches.
Head to Head
The Rabbits snagged a 1-point win against the Dragons back in Round 2 this season with Jamie Humphreys breaking the 24-24 deadlock with a 75th minute field goal, after coming back from a 12-point deficit with 30 minutes to play.
The win was South Sydney’s eight victory over St George in their last 11 meetings.
6 of the last 7 matches between Souths and St George have gone under the game total.
South Sydney Rabbitohs Form Analysis
Something has shifted over the last fortnights in Redfern with the Rabbits snagging 2 consecutive wins, breaking their 9-game losing streak. A 20-18 victory over the Titans almost guaranteed that the Bunnies would avoid the Wooden Spoon this season, while their 20-16 victory last week over the Eels has removed them completely from the fight at the bottom.
The Bunnies have suffered injury and have lacked chemistry in both attack and defence this season, however, over the last 2 weeks they have been able to defend their line and keep their defence intact, conceding under 20 points in consecutive games for just the second time this season.
With the return of some troops this week, Wayne Bennet and the Rabbitohs will want to build on that defensive performance, while rekindling combinations in attack.
South Sydney Rabbitohs Team News
Latrell Mitchell was a late withdrawal last week prior to the Rabbits match against the Eels and will also miss this weekend with a back complaint. Jye Gray will wear the No.1 after an inspiring performance at the back last week.
Bayleigh Bentley-Hape is under concussion protocol with Tyrone Munro starting on the wing.
Cody Walker is still named to come off the bench with Ashton Ward holding onto the No. 6 jumper.

St George Illawarra Dragons Form Analysis
The Saints were giant killers in Rounds 22 and 23, taking down league leaders the Canberra Raiders 18-12 and following it up with a 22-14 victory over the Sharks. However, a three-peat was too much to ask, throwing away a 10-point lead to go down 14-10 to the Warriors last weekend.
It was a gallant effort despite the result with a culture change appearing to take place at St George. The impressive part of the mini run for the Dragons has been their defence, conceding an average of 13.33 points per game in their last 3 matches, which were against top eight sides.
