Newcastle Knights vs Brisbane Broncos NRL 2025 Round 25 FAQ’s

The predictions in this match are more about the deficiencies of the Newcastle Knights than the confidence I have in the Brisbane Broncos playing consistently. The Knights have been missing in action over the last 3 weeks being beaten by an average of 32 points over the last 3 weeks having absolutely no motivation to compete.

With all of their attacking problems the Knights had their defence to lean on but now it has abandoned them also. Reece Walsh was the spark for Brisbane last week without their starting halves and if the Broncos No.1 can ignite his team’s attack for a consecutive week, this one could get ugly again in the Hunter.

That is what I expect and with Brisbane having a strong record putting up points over the Knights in recent years, I like them to hit the over on their team total and also win this one 13+.

Deine Mariner put a couple on the Knight sin their match in 2024 and will be looking to cement his worth on the wing with another big performance after scoring a 4-pointer last week against the Dolphins.

Brisbane Broncos have won 5 of the last 5 vs Newcastle Knights with 4 victories by a 13+ margin.
Newcastle have conceded an average of 43.3 points per game in their last 3 matches.
Brisbane have scored 28 points or more in 4 of their last 5 matches against Newcastle.
Deine Mariner has scored 3 tries in his last 3 matches.

Head to Head

Brisbane have won the last 5 against Newcastle, including a 30-14 drubbing last time they played in Round 20, 2024 at McDonald Jones Stadium.

4 of the last 5 Broncos victories over Newcastle have been by a 13+ margin.

Newcastle Knights Form Analysis

The only thing keeping the Knights in any contest was their ability to defend their own line with their attack averaging just 14.2 points per game in 2025. Unfortunately for Adam O’Brien’s men that has also started failing them as they just another victory to ensure that they avoid the Wooden Spoon.

A 38-4 loss to the Cowboys last weekend pretty much sums up the Knights season as they have now averaged 43.33 points over their last 3 matches. Any steam to finish the season strong has completely abandoned the club and will be relying on the Titans inability to win one more match so they avoid finishing last.

Brisbane Broncos Form Analysis

After falling behind by two tries early in the second half against the Dolphins, the battered and bruised Broncos found a will and a way to win the Brisbane derby, scoring 4 unanswered tries.

Reece Walsh found his timing, after a bit of a shocker in Brisbane’s loss to Melbourne the week prior, finishing the match with 1 try, 2 linebreak assists, 1 try assist and going 6 from 6 with the boot, taking over the kicking duties from the injured Reynolds.

Michael Maguire needed his fullback to step up with injuries to Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam, and he got the performance he needed last week. Brisbane are still in the hunt for a top 4 finish and will need to get a consistent showing from Walsh each week if they are going to steal an extra life or ensure a home Elimination Final.
