One thing is for sure, the Titans are going to need some time to find this new culture that Josh Hannay has installed, because nothing looked any different last week when they gave up 50 points against the Sharks.

With some teething issues still in place, the electric Dolphins attack is going to tear the Titans apart at Suncorp on Sunday. Kristian Wolf’s men put themselves under pressure with poor completions in their loss to the Rabbits but that can be forgiven in Round 1.

The Dolphins may play it a little safer but that won’t mean that they will not be able to find the gaps in the Gold Coast defence. I expect the Dolphins to get out of the gates fast and put up an early lead covering the 4.5 points at halftime.

I expect there to be plenty of points coming from the Dolphins but I am uneasy about what the Titans attack can or can’t do, so I am taking the Dolphins over 32.5 Team Total.

If there are tries then there will be a four pointer from Herbie Farnworth, who is still in the conversation as one of the best centres in the NRL.

Dolphins Form Analysis

The Dolphins started their 2026 campaign in ordinary fashion, leaking 40 points against the Rabbitohs in a 10-point loss at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

There has been plenty of positive hype around Redcliffe in the offseason, but leaking 5 tries in the first 40 minutes of the year put a heavy damper on any of it. The positive was the response in the second half, however their right-side defence had no match for the Souths attack.

The 65% completion rate will need to improve dramatically and if it does the Dolphins will see a vast improvement and will see more than 41% of the ball. A poor game in Round 1 can be forgotten with a better performance this week.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

New year, new coach, same Titans.

Josh Hannay’s tenure at the Gold Coast couldn’t have started any worse, going into the sheds 34-0 down against the Cronulla Sharks in Round 1. It quickly turned to 40-0 after the break with a final score of 50-10.

37 missed tackles is just the start of their problems but it is also what they are doing, or more so what they are not doing with the ball that is the problem. The Sharks had 27 more runs and 445 more run metres than the Titans, breaking their line on 7 occasions, while the Gold Coast made just 3 line breaks.

The only positive I take out of their opener was the performance of debutant Sialetili Faeamani who not only scored his first NRL try but also led the Titans with 152 run metres on 14 runs which was the second-most of any on his team.
