Dolphins vs Canberra Raiders NRL Round 27 Tips - Dolphins leap past resting Raiders

In Round 27 of the 2025 NRL season, the minor premiership-winning Canberra Raiders will rest 10 key players against a desperate Dolphins outfit. With the Raiders fielding a much-weakened side and the Dolphins boasting the league’s premier attack, experts predict a lopsided contest. The Dolphins are expected to post over 32.5 points and win by a margin greater than 13 points. Key players to watch include Trai Fuller and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. Action points: back the Dolphins in all markets, look for a high total points tally, and expect breakout performances from Dolphins backs.

Canberra will have a no-pressure final round and have decided to chill the momentum they have of winning the minor premiership by putting their stars on ice for this match. The right decision or not, I’m not quite sure, but time will tell.

Anyway, that is not what we are here for. Don’t look too much into this one, the Dolphins attack is the best in the comp in raw points scored and against a Raiders defensive line that is getting a feel for each other for the first time, they will have a field day picking it apart

Picking totals was also a no brainer, I am putting no faith in the Dolphins defence, even if it is against a B-grade Raiders outfit. Backing the Dolphins to exceed 32.5 points NOT the Raiders to score less than 18.

Trai Fuller looked back at his best last weekend and will be a menace alongside Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. The pair will do enough on the scoreboard to ensure a 13+ win to the Dolphins.

  • The Raiders are resting 10 of their starting 17 players.
  • The Dolphins have the best attack in the NRL averaging 27.8 points per game
  • The Dolphins have an average winning margin of 23.4 points this season
  • Trai Fuller has scored a try in 2 of his last 3 games.

Head to Head

Canberra have won the last 3 against the Dolphins with the latest being a 40-28 drubbing back in Round 8 this season. Important to note  is that the two wins prior were decided by a field goal.

The head to head record lies at 3-1 with the last 3 games hitting the over on the game total.

Dolphins Form Analysis

Despite being the best attacking team in the comp with an average of 27.8 points per game the Dolphins are once again outside of the eight, looking in from ninth, just as they were last season.

The Dolphins defence has been a shambles, especially when their finals hopes were on the line, average 47 opposition points over the last 4 weeks, with their best defensive performance being the 30 points they conceded against the Titans last week in their 6-point victory that still gives them a glimmer of a chance if the Chooks loose in the final round.

The exciting prospect is the combination of Trai Fuller and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow on the same side, showing last week against the Gold Coast that that pairing is one to be feared, combining for 2 tries, 4 linebreaks 2 try assists and a linebreak assist.

Dolphins Team News

Kulikefu Finefuiaki is set to return from an ankle injury and replaces Connelly Lemuelu.

Herbie Farnworth will suit up if the Dolphins are still a chance of Finals, depending if the Roosters get the win against Souths.

Canberra Raiders Form Analysis

The Raiders gave themselves the luxury of resting their players in this match after wrapping up the minor premiership with a 24-10 victory over the Wests Tigers last weekend.

The strength in the Raiders is their game management and powerful pack which has them second in the comp with an average of 1493.2 run metres per game (2nd in NRL) and an average of 5.2 linebreaks per game (5th in NRL).

The Raiders goal line defence also needs to be commended and probably isn’t talked about enough. No team in the NRL can withstand pressure like Canberra with a ratio of 11.7 tackles inside thier red zone per try conceded, which is why they have the third-ranked defence in the league, allowing 19.3 points per game.
