Cronulla Sharks vs Canterbury Bulldogs, Round 4 2025 - Expert Prediction
The Bulldogs are aiming to go 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 1993, but they will come undone in Shark-infested waters without Matt Burton and Viliame Kikau.

Canterbury were firing on all cylinders as they dropped 28 & 40 points on the Dragons and Titans, but unfortunately it was the Bulldogs of old last week against the Eels, with their attack looking flat and stagnant in the absence of Burton, who's long kicking game was also missed.
The Dogs have traditionally struggled in attack against Cronulla, scoring 15, 6, 6 & 10 points in their last four meetings, while Sharks Stadium has proven to be a hoodoo ground for them - indeed, they last tasted victory at this venue all the way back in 2011.
Craig Fitzgibbon's side have won their last two matches comfortably over the Cowboys and Rabbitohs, while they've won six of their last seven overall against the Bulldogs. In saying that, I'm predicting this to be a low-scoring affair as Canterbury fail to add many points to the overall total, while Jesse Ramien is the pick for Anytime/First Tryscorer as he celebrates his 150th NRL game.
- The last three meetings have produced 31 points or less
- Bulldogs have scored 15 points or less in their last four games vs Sharks
- Bulldogs haven't won at Sharks Stadium since 2011
- Bulldogs only managed 16 points vs a woeful Eels side that leaked 56 & 32 points in their previous games this season
- Jesse Ramien scored the opening try in Vegas and plays his 150th game here - we can expect him to receive plenty of ball out wide
Head To Head
Cronulla have dominated Canterbury in recent times, winning six of the last seven meetings, while the Dogs haven't won at Sharks Stadium in the last 14 years. However, the Bulldogs edged out a 15-14 victory in Golden Point in Round 17 last year courtesy of a Burton field goal.

After narrowly going down to the Panthers in their season opener in Vegas, the Sharks have won their last two games by 13+ margins.
Despite half the squad battling illness, Cronulla crushed the Cowboys on the road 36-12 in Round 2 before easing past the Rabbitohs by a 27-12 score last week in their first home game of the year.
The Sharks exploded out of the blocks to lead 20-0 at half-time, with halves Nicho Hynes and Brayden Trindall playing starring roles and both crossing for tries.

The Bulldogs have put together a 3-0 start to the season and are attempting to win their opening four games for the first time in 32 years.
Cameron Ciraldo's side were far too good for the Dragons and Titans in their opening two games, but the loss of Matt Burton to a knee injury was felt last week.
Canterbury looked slow and flat in attack, with Toby Sexton and Bailey Hayward lacking creativity and ideas in the opposition 20. The Dogs were also missing Viliame Kikau's strike-power on the edges, but their rock-solid defence stood firm as they dug out an ugly 16-8 victory over the last-placed Eels.

Verdict
The 'Unders' is the play for this game, with the Bulldogs historically struggling to score points against the Sharks, while their attack (without Burton) slipped back into old habits as they only managed 16 points against the embattled Eels last week.
Jesse Ramien is playing his 150th NRL game and can celebrate with a four-pointer.
