Geelong Value Bet - Race 4 No. 12 Zeaction

The New Zealand-bred gelding showed up well when debuting with a length third in May last year.

The son of Zacinto raced over 1400m on a wet track at Matamata that day and he joined the Gemma Rielly stable following that effort.

Zeaction performed well on his first start for Rielly, finishing just over a length back in third when contesting a 1411m maiden at Sale just over a month ago.

The five-year-old again raced on a wet track that day and he encountered a sound surface for the first time when third over 1760m here last time.

He raced on the pace last time out and while a wide barrier isn’t ideal here, it’s notable that he was ridden from mid-division in his first two starts.

Rhys McLeod knows the gelding well, having been on board for both Australian starts and he can progress third-up.

Geelong Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Ballynacally

The daughter of Toronado has made a good start to her career, registering a second and a win from two starts to date.

The mare had showed up well in the second of two trials prior to debuting at Donald just over a month ago.

Ballynacally raced on the speed and went down by just under one-and-a-half-lengths that day.

The switch to a wet track combined with the step up to 1200m saw her go one better when saluting at Casterton just over two weeks later.

She came home one-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals when racing from the front under Linda Meech on that occasion.

Both of trainer Adam Chambers’ subsequent runners have won since, while Linda Meech retains the ride here.

Mirnee Electrical Solutions 0-64 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Geelong Favourite - Race 7 No. 2 Purveyor

Bevan Laming’s representative showed good form at metro level last prep, placing twice on the Heath course at Caulfield.

Those efforts included a good second when beaten less than two lengths in an 1800m Benchmark 64 handicap there in December.

Purveyor raced on a sound surface that day and she was spelled following a last-of-ten over 2040m at Moonee Valley ten days later.

The gelding made three appearances in jump out’s ahead of his return to action via a 1600m Benchmark 0-64 handicap at Cranbourne last month.

He raced from off the pace prior to staying on nicely for fourth, beaten less than a length on good going on that occasion.

Any softening of the going would be no issue, with the gelding having won and placed on wet tracks in the past.

McGrath Estate Agents BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 1 Irish Rockstar

The seven-year-old has been lightly-raced in recent years, making just two appearances since finishing ninth at Warrnambool in September 2023.

The son of Rebel Raider made a winning reappearance when saluting by just under a length at Hamilton in May last year.

Racing on a Heavy 9, Irish Rockstar raced from the front prior to taking out a 1600m Benchmark 64 handicap contest.

That Bendigo effort marked his most recent start and he arrives here on the back of a coupe of jump-out's.

Irish Rockstar goes well fresh, having twice won first-up and the return to good going is no issue, having won on a sound surface in the past.

Barrier six is a positive, with the seven-year-old having shown good early speed in the past and he looks up to resuming with a victory.
