Coffs Harbour's eight-race meeting on Wednesday, 4 November, features a Soft 7 track that should suit runners with proven wet-track form. Zweigelt is tipped to win Race 1, following a strong second over 2120m at Lismore and a previous win on Soft ground. Rich Star is selected for Race 7 due to his consistent record and ability on heavy tracks, while Prince Of Wants is an each-way chance in Race 2 after a career-best second at Port Macquarie and demonstrated form on rain-affected surfaces. All selections are based on recent performance and suitability to the conditions.

Coffs Harbour hosts an eight-race country meeting on Wednesday, November 4, with racing scheduled throughout the afternoon.

The track is currently rated a Soft 7, with the rail in the true position, and the conditions could favour runners with proven form on rain-affected ground.

Coffs Harbour Tips November 4

Coast Hotel Coffs Harbour Class 1 & Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)

Coffs Harbour Best Bet - Race 1 No. 5 Zweigelt

Matthew Dunn's four-year-old looks well placed in the opening 2000m Class 1, having demonstrated his staying credentials with a narrow second over 2120m at Lismore on October 18.

The gelding finished just half a length behind Bills Angel on that occasion, following an Eagle Farm maiden victory over 1600m on Soft ground in September.

His previous Coffs Harbour appearance produced a second over 1412m, and a career record of one win and three minor placings from seven starts suggests he remains a consistent prospect at this level.

Andrew Mallyon takes the ride from barrier eight, with the outside draw a slight concern but his proven effectiveness on Soft going and recent staying form significant positives.

Swift Sovereign is the main danger after winning over 1830m at Eagle Farm on Heavy ground, although Zweigelt brings the stronger overall body of form and gets the nod.

Coffs Harbour Racing Club Maiden Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Coffs Harbour Value Bet - Race 2 No. 5 Prince Of Wants

Prince Of Wants appeals at an each-way price after producing the strongest performance of his short career when finishing second over 1500m at Port Macquarie on October 25.

The Robert Agnew-trained gelding worked home from midfield to finish just 0.7 lengths behind Bobbiwaa on Soft 6 ground, showing encouraging improvement at his third appearance this preparation.

His earlier form includes a third over 1262m at Taree on Heavy 8 ground in May, suggesting the forecast rain-affected conditions should pose no significant problem.

The rise to 1600m looks suitable following his latest performance, while Danny Peisley retains the ride and the gelding drops from 59kg to 57kg.

Barrier eight and his maiden status remain concerns, but with several rivals also stepping into unfamiliar distance territory, Prince Of Wants looks capable of making his presence felt at attractive odds.

Jacaranda Cup Tips (Race 7)

Coffs Harbour Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Rich Star

A remarkably consistent campaigner, Rich Star has finished in the first three in ten of his eleven career starts and looks capable of breaking through again in the Jacaranda Cup.

The Chris Manson-trained gelding has recorded three consecutive minor placings this preparation, most recently finishing third beaten just 0.8 lengths over 1008m at Taree on September 22.

Earlier efforts included a second at Coffs Harbour over 1010m and another runner-up finish at Grafton, while his previous 1200m appearance resulted in a victory.

The son of Rich Enuff also boasts two seconds from two starts on Heavy ground, suggesting testing conditions should not prevent him from running his usual competitive race.

Grace Palmer's 3kg claim reduces his effective weight to 52.5kg, and barrier five provides an excellent opportunity to secure a favourable run in a competitive feature.
