The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps promises a fierce showdown as Kimi Antonelli seeks to defend his narrowing 25-point championship lead against Mercedes teammate George Russell and a resurgent Ferrari team. Ferrari, boasting two wins from the last three races, have momentum and form with Charles Leclerc tipped for pole. While Antonelli's Mercedes leads the energy efficiency race that matters at Spa, Ferrari's drivers remain top contenders for victory. Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Preview & Predictions

Kimi Antonelli can steady his championship campaign with victory at Spa-Francorchamps, but don't expect it to come easily as Ferrari arrive with genuine race-winning pace and Charles Leclerc looks primed for another standout weekend at one of his favourite circuits.

The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix shapes as one of the biggest races of the season, with Antonelli's once commanding championship lead reduced to just 25 points over Mercedes teammate George Russell.

Ferrari have also emerged as legitimate title contenders after winning two of the last three Grands Prix, while Spa's unique demands could produce another twist in an increasingly fascinating championship.

Spa-Francorchamps remains the longest circuit on the Formula 1 calendar at 7.004km and introduces the toughest hybrid energy management challenge teams have faced under the 2026 regulations.

Five Straight Mode activation zones, long flat-out sections through Eau Rouge, Raidillon and the Kemmel Straight, plus the ever-present threat of Ardennes weather ensure no team will enjoy a comfortable weekend. Ferrari's recent aerodynamic gains and Mercedes' superior energy management should again define the fight at the front, while Red Bull will hope the circuit's flowing layout suits the RB22 better than Silverstone.

Key Stats

  • Antonelli leads the Drivers' Championship by 25 points over George Russell heading into Round 10.
  • Spa-Francorchamps is the longest circuit on the F1 calendar at 7.004km, with just 44 race laps.
  • Ferrari have won two of the last three Grands Prix, with Hamilton victorious in Spain and Leclerc winning at Silverstone.
  • The 2026 Belgian Grand Prix features five Straight Mode activation zones, the most of any circuit this season.

Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Qualifying Tips

Charles Leclerc looks perfectly suited to claim pole position at Spa. Ferrari's aerodynamic improvements have transformed the SF-26 over recent rounds, while Leclerc has always excelled on high-speed circuits where commitment and confidence make the difference.

His breakthrough 2019 Formula 1 victory came at Spa, and the Belgian circuit has consistently been one of Ferrari's strongest venues. With the normal weekend format allowing three practice sessions, Ferrari should have ample time to maximise qualifying performance.

Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Race Tips

Kimi Antonelli remains the driver to beat on Sunday despite recent setbacks. Damage at Silverstone cost him what looked like another victory, while Mercedes continue to possess the class-leading energy deployment that could prove decisive over Spa's long straights. Ferrari should challenge throughout the race, particularly with Hamilton and Leclerc both capable of controlling tyre degradation, but Mercedes' efficiency across a full race distance still gives Antonelli the edge.

The battle behind should be equally compelling. Lewis Hamilton continues to build momentum in the Ferrari, Leclerc's confidence has returned after his Silverstone victory, and Max Verstappen remains capable of fighting into the top four despite Red Bull's concerns over rear wing stability on high-speed circuits. Racing Bulls also loom as the standout midfield team after another impressive showing at Silverstone.

Race Prediction

  1. Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes)
  2. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)
  3. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari)

Verdict

The fight between Mercedes and Ferrari will go to the death this weekend but it will be the Scuderi team that takes the last laugh with a double podium and race win.
