Tabtouch Better Your Bet Maiden Tips (Race 2)
Kalgoorlie Value Bet - Race 2 No. 7 Diamond Jack
Still very lightly raced, Diamond Jack shapes as a type who should appreciate middle-distance racing as he furnishes, and there was enough merit in his September 9 debut at Belmont to suggest he can progress quickly with experience.
Sent around at a big price over 1200m, which looked short of his best, the D'Argento gelding settled back from a wide draw and was never in winning contention but still finished off soundly despite racing very greenly in the straight, producing the third-fastest final 200m of a maiden with some depth.
That form has already received a boost through runner-up Official Business, who broke through at Northam last week, while there were also decent prior references around Wrexham, who was well held in third.
There is more in Diamond Jack’s favour this time from a low draw and with the rise to 1400m bringing him much closer to his expected distance range, while this maiden appears to contain less depth and the early market leaning towards the lightly raced runners comes as little surprise.
Brayden Gaerth remains aboard after partnering him on debut and in his lead-up work, including his August 24 Lark Hill trial victory, and although he will improve again with racing, there was enough in that first appearance to make the available each-way quote appealing.

Kalgoorlie Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Blood Brother
A big first-up performance from Blood Brother at this track on September 20 saw the lightly raced local carry 60.5kg to victory over 1300m in Class 2 company despite being ridden cold from a wide draw.
Forced to sustain a wide run while conceding weight to every rival and also receiving a decent bump around the 250m, the Rickie Brown-trained gelding was still too strong and produced the fastest final 400m of the entire program.
There remains upside in the four-year-old after he headed west following two Victorian misses earlier this year, with his only major failure in WA coming when thrown into Listed company at Belmont before his latest spell.
His four prior appearances were all at Kalgoorlie and included an eye-catching fresh effort followed by an unlucky second-up run, before he won his next two starts in June, firstly breaking his maiden over 1300m and then overcoming trouble to score in a Class 2 over 1760m.
There is more depth to this BM58+ than he faced first-up, but the rise to 1600m should suit with further improvement expected second-up, and with 2.5kg less to carry as Laqdar Ramoly retains the ride, Blood Brother can make it four wins from nine starts.

Kalgoorlie Best Bet - Race 5 No. 10 Gav Has Spoken
A terrific campaign opener at Pinjarra on July 16 saw Gav Has Spoken come from the rear over 1200m and narrowly miss after producing the fastest final 200m of the entire meeting.
Nearly five weeks separated that return from her second-up appearance at Belmont, where she was not quite as effective but remained competitive, before finishing 10th-of-12 when coming back to 1200m at Bunbury on September 10.
Sharp improvement followed on the seven-day back-up when she stretched to 1685m at Bunbury on September 17, with the daughter of God Has Spoken catching the eye from back in the field to finish runner-up behind Sandfire Rose in a Class 3 that favoured runners closer to the speed.
Clint Johnston-Porter stays aboard and should have more options from the lower draw this time, while four runs under the belt and the benefit of that latest distance effort should have the Brett Mathews-trained mare close to her peak.
Johnston-Porter also arrives in excellent form after a strong September, and with Gav Has Spoken stepping to 1760m in a Class 2 after such an encouraging latest performance, she looks well placed to go one better.
Tabtouch Hannans Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Kalgoorlie Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Fast Flicker
Last year’s Hannans Handicap did not work out for Fast Flicker despite market support, with the mare covering ground from barrier nine before finishing ninth, while she then rounded out that short campaign with a plain eighth-of-12 effort at Ascot.
Her late-summer and early-autumn preparation was far more encouraging despite going winless across four starts, with merit in every performance and the first three all coming at Listed level, including placings in the Pinjarra Classic, Bunbury Stakes and Grandstand Cup.
She was the pick of the on-speed runners in those Listed assignments, with dangerous swooper Bonjoy beating her in both the Bunbury Stakes and Grandstand Cup, before Fast Flicker was only just over two lengths away when fifth in the Sheila Gwynne Classic to round out the campaign.
A solid trial preceded a sound fourth in the Nicopolis Stakes at Belmont on September 12, and her record suggests she generally improves sharply from a fresh run, with her four second-up appearances producing two wins and two placings.
The return to 1400m is another major positive given six of her nine career victories have come at the trip, while barrier five and the speed drawn around her should allow Steven Parnham to settle in the first two or three pairs and give Fast Flicker an economical passage in the Listed feature.
