Tasmania JackJumpers vs Brisbane Bullets NBL26 Round 20 Tips - Jackies make it hard for themselves

The Tasmania JackJumpers are gearing up to face the Brisbane Bullets in an NBL25 Round 20 clash. Despite Tasmania's recent form and crucial win against New Zealand, experts predict a closer contest than expected. The JackJumpers need to maintain their momentum, but the Bullets have a strong history against them, having beaten Tasmania 83-81 previously. With Tasmania's strong defense and low-scoring games, Brisbane is expected to cover the 9.5-point spread. Overall, it's anticipated to be a tight, low-scoring matchup.

Tasmania JackJumpers vs Brisbane Bullets NBL25 Round 20 Expert Tips

The JackJumpers should almost seal their spot in the finals with victory over cellar-dwellers the Bullets, but I am predicting this one to be closer than most, taking Brisbane with the 9.5-point start.

Tassie are on a high after David Johnson pulled out a career-high 33 points, getting a vital victory over the Breakers putting them back in the driver’s seat to hold onto sixth place and a play-in spot.

It would be easy to jump on this momentum and back the narrative that they will build on that win and crush the Bullets, like most teams do, however, Scott roth and the JackJumpers can’t expect that Johnson will hit 7-11 three-balls in the match.

The reality here is that both teams struggle to score points and that is what I am backing in this match, rather than who is going to win or lose. The Under 177.5 is the first play and if that narrative is right then a double-digit margin for Tasmania is more on the unlikely side.

Maybe I am being cautious as a JackJumpers fan, but these are the games that they lose or escape with a narrow victory.

  • The Bullets beat the JackJumpers in Tasmania 83-81 last time they played in the beginning of November.
  • Brisbane would have covered the +9.5 margin in their last 8 matches against Tasmania
  • 5 of the last 6 matches between Brisbane and Tasmania have gone under the game total.
  • Tasmania allows the least amount of points per game (86.4) than any team in the NBL.

Tasmania JackJumpers Form & Team News

With their backs against the wall adding Ben Ayre to the list of season-ending injuries along with Will Magnay and Bryce Hamilton, the Jackies found their fighting spirit once again and got arguably their most important victory of the run home, beating New Zealand 91-89 at My State Bank Arena on Sunday.

With game breakers like Hamilton and Magnay on the sideline, Tassie needed a new hero and they found it with David Johnson who went 7-11 from three, hitting shots from well outside the perimeter all night, including the match winner with 15 seconds left on the clock.

Josh Bannan did his thing getting another double-double, while Majok Deng played the full 40 mins backing up his 28 points in the loss to Cairns twitch another 17 and 5 rebounds.

Brisbane Bullets Form & Team News

The Bullets suffered two 30-plus point losses in Round 19 to Illawarra and then to Adelaide giving them 9 straight defeats with the majority by monster margins.

It is another turmoil year in Brisbane and there is not really much more to say.

The positive is the rise of Jacob Holt who had his best game with a career-high 24 points against Adelaide, his second 20+ point game in three matches.
