France vs Morocco World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's a rematch from four years ago as France and Morocco square off in the World Cup quarter-finals on Thursday at Gillette Stadium in Boston.

That previous meeting came in the semi-finals at Qatar 2022, with France coming away with a 2-0 victory before that heartbreaking defeat to Argentina in the final. Equipped with ridiculous depth in attack, led by Golden Boot favourite Kylian Mbappe, France are deserved favourites as we head into the business end of this World Cup.

France were forced to roll up their sleeves to overcome the Paraguayan dark arts in the R16 in a 1-0 win, showcasing their versatility and ability to 'win ugly' if they need to. Meanwhile, Morocco got the job done against Canada, prevailing 3-0 in a scoreline that I think flattered the Atlas Lions.

Morocco are a fantastic team and have emerged as a top 10 footballing nation over the last decade, but I haven't been too impressed by them this tournament. They barely scraped by Scotland in the group and leaked two goals against minnow Haiti before being on the verge of elimination against Netherlands in the R32. The Atlas Lions then managed just four shots against Canada and were dominated for large chunks of the game, but they were ruthlessly efficient. Star striker Ismael Saibari is also in doubt for this clash with a hamstring injury.

I just think Morocco won't be able to handle this step up in class. They're unbeaten in 34 straight games, but haven't faced a team with this quality. I don't see a blowout happening (Morocco haven't leaked more than two goals in that 34-game unbeaten streak), but France are just too strong in the final third. A 2-0 win for Les Bleus appeals, with Mbappe scoring his eighth goal of the tournament.
  • France have won 11 of their last 12 games
  • France have covered a -1.5 handicap in 13 of their last 16 wins
  • France beat Morocco 2-0 in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals
  • Morocco haven't conceded more than two goals in their last 36 games
  • Kylian Mbappe has scored seven goals this World Cup, including three in the knockout stage

France vs Morocco Head To Head

France are unbeaten in the six previous meetings, winning four - including that 2-0 triumph in Qatar four years ago.

France Form Analysis

France remain tournament favourites after a series of swashbuckling performances to reach the quarter-finals.

Didier Deschamps side took maximum points in the group stage, defeating Senegal, Iraq and Norway by 2+ goal margins.

Topping the group, France were tasked with a R32 showdown against Sweden and they continued their fine form with a convincing 3-0 win, with Mbappe scoring a brace either side of a goal from Bradley Barcola.

Les Bleus were forced to deal with Paraguay's dark arts and intimidation tactics in the R16, but they dug deep and pulled out a 1-0 victory courtesy of Mbappe's strike from the penalty spot in the second half.

France Team News

Aurelien Tchouameni continues to struggle with a thigh injury, meaning Manu Kone could start again in midfield.

Michael Olise is in spectacular form and has five assists already at this World Cup, which puts him just three shy of the all-time record.

Mbappe has 19 World Cup goals to his name and is in a race alongside Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot at this tournament.

Morocco Form Analysis

Morocco have done a tremendous job of backing up their breakout run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals.

The Atlas Lions were crowned African champions earlier this year (albeit in controversial fashion) and are once again the last African nation standing at a World Cup.

After a 1-1 opening draw with Brazil, Morocco edged out Scotland 1-0 with an early goal before coming from behind to dispatch Haiti 4-2.

Mohamed Ouahbi's side were minutes away from elimination against Netherlands in the R32 before forcing extra-time and winning on penalties. Morocco then absorbed large amounts of pressure against Canada before their class shone through, scoring two late goals in a 3-0 victory to return to the last eight.

Morocco Team News

Azzedine Ounahi scored a second-half brace against Canada, while substitute Soufiane Rahimi also found the back of the net - the latter may start here, with Ismael Saibari struggling with a hamstring injury.

Brahim Diaz has an all-time African record four assists and 10 goal involvements for Morocco in 2026 - he'll be the key man for his side, alongside captain Achraf Hakimi.
